Home Prayer Questions - Chant, Song, etc

Coming from a more traditionalist background, in regards to home prayer, can we incorporate chant in our home prayer and, if so, what are the proper ways to do it? What traditional melodies or chants can we do? Can we read the prayers also in a chant style or must they only be in a regular reading voice?

Does anyone have any links or examples of how to do it?

Like, are these chants/singing appropriate for laity/non-clergy to do at home?
 
Laity are not bound by specific rules. Prayer however you wish at home .
