Not to belittle this story, but there is an order of nuns in the Chicago area which cater to 200-300 homeless people every day. They have been doing it for over 18 years and thanks to the efforts of the local TV stations, they managed to raise over $200K over this past weekend to fix the heating inside the building. (So cold inside the holy water froze.) And the really sad part was that the closest diocesan parish (or at least their pastor) to this place had not even been aware of their existence.

Thanks for this. It is important to show the good of our whole Church…

Thank you for sharing. God bless those nuns. And may Lord inspire and convict all of us to follow their example.

On one hand … that is rather sad.

On the other hand … what a great example of not letting the left hand not know what the right hand is doing (* i.e. giving so quietly and humbly that it escapes notice rather than calling attention to itself - praised by Jesus)*.

I also think the sisters’ work trumps the feel good story of the homeless man’s burial place by quite a lot (per substance).

Definitely. Raising the dignity of a living human is far greater. And living in sub-freezing climates has additional pains. The eight nuns themselves were in the cold while they were feeding these homeless. Donations came in from admitted atheists and other non-Catholics as well. I think Chicagoans and other Americans can very well relate to this cold (as well as hunger and a place without a roof over one’s head.) And hopefully the homeless condition of those being catered is temporary.

BTW, I didn’t provide any links as the reader can use any search engine and find more than enough information on this.
