Does anyone take notes during a homily? Today the Deacon made some valuable statements and I wish I had written them down. I have never seen anyone at Mass taking notes.

Yes, I do. Not constantly, but I usually take a small notebook in my purse and jot down things that I want to remember. So it’s not detailed notes or outline, but small things I want to remember.

Almost always. As well as at any retreats or classes I take. I joke that because I write a blog, I take notes so I can plagiarize shamelessly at a later date. (I do give the speaker credit.) I keep a journal in my purse everywhere I go. Plus, the way mind works, if I write it down, I pretty much remember it exactly. Also, sometimes I expand upon an idea, or make notes to research a concept more fully.

No, but when I was little my grandmother would make me take notes at church. Since protestant ministers sometimes ramble, she would make up go back and read the scriptures that he would quote.

No I don’t take notes. I think it would be ok to jot a thing or two down now and then, but as a whole I think it would be very distracting sitting next to someone who was constantly taking notes. But I do appreciate listening to a recorded homily now and then. Homilies from our Sunday Mass are recorded and put on our parish website.

You can go back and hear the message again and again. We don’t have that feature on ours yet. I am always inspired by one or two statements in particular each Sunday. God bless.
