apply sex change operation to a gay, will he(she?) become a heterosexual or a lesbian?

no doubt doing so is sinful but is homosexual always homosexual or is he/she attracted to a certain sex?

Is this possible? What would the Church declare?

If they were a functional male or a functional female at the start then they would be an altered male or female afterwards. The surgery is cosmetic. What goes on in their head is debatable.

Transsexual surgery, and the whole question of gender identity, have absolutely nothing whatever to do with homosexuality. Most homosexuals do not have a problem with gender identity. Google around a little and then, if you still have a question, formulate it more clearly. I’m not being testy here; it’s just that you need to know what your question is.

No, because genetically, the would still be their original gender. Applying a spoiler kit to a Pontiac Fiero does not change the car into a Ferrari. It is still a Fiero under all that plastic.

“Do not chromosomes determine gender?”

Yes.
Gender is genetic.

do stay humble, will you?

I just want to know if one forces an operation on a homosexual, what the result would be like.

In my humble opinion, a guy who goes through a successful sex change operation is not a female, just a mutilated male.

Regarding having the organs of both genders…yes, this does happen. The term is “hermaphrodite”, and I believe one set of organs or the other is not operational, so any surgery is to reinforce the dominant organs/hormones. The person in question often has to go through lifetime hormone therapy. (I think). Maybe that’s only if the hormones are imbalanced.

I haven’t studied this since college, but the Catholic Church’s position would be to love and support the person as a child of God.

I’m sure some of the medical/psychologically trained people on the site can give more information. I know there are several types of hermaphroditeism, ie; organs of one sex on one side of the body, and the opposite on the other side.

Come to think of it, I think these people are often sterile and I think there is also an association with a gene connected to retardation. Not sure at all.

Where in the world are you going with this?!? In what possible scenario would one ever “force” a sex change operation on a homosexual?! To date I am totally unaware of any phenomenon such as vigilante sex reassignment surgery–but you’ll let me know if I’ve missed a headline.

You are asking…if you start with a gay man, and then forcibly alter him sexually and probably give him hormone treatments, what will happen to him afterwards:

A) he still is attracted to men

B) he starts to identify himself as a her and once he is a her, then as a her, she is attracted to someone of the same sex (being a homosexual), so the her is attracted to women now. Hence you would have forced a gay man to become attracted to women.

I guess your question is, is the deal with gay men that they are attracted to men or is the deal with gay men that they are attracted to someone who is similar to them (genitally maybe)?

This I do not kow. I am curious too.

I’d guess that in general a gay man has a strong identification of himself as male, and that he would still feel male even if you forcibly cut him up. So his gender identification would not change, and since he is used to being attracted to men, he would remain so.

What if you cut up a heterosexual male? Would he switch to liking men? I doubt it.

Island Oak, there’s no headline you miss. this is a hypothetical question. homosexual and sex identification disorder are different. homosexuals usually don’t go for a sex change operation.
Pug you explained the question better than me. thanks

Will everyone please proceed with extreme caution if they wish to continue this thread?

Thanks…but this was not news nor a source of confusion for me…the point of asking your question is what eludes me.

just trying discover a homosexual’s psychology so that we can persuade with them better

Island Oak, will you please tell us what your religious faith is? you haven’t specified one in your profile.

if you want to prove my topic isn’t fit in a Catholic forum, you have to prove you’re Catholic or at least you’re familiar with Catholic. sarcastic smiley doesn’t help
