I recently found out our neighbor has left his wife and two children to embrace a homosexual lifestyle. He has told his wife to give up all hope in their marriage this is a decision he has embraced. My questions is, should I continue to let my children play with their children? I really like the mother and the kids I am just unsure of which course of action to take. My son is 12 and best friends with their 11 year old boy. I want to tell the mother none of my four children are to be around the father but I am not sure that is enough. I need guidance on further action. Thank you!

Tell them the truth on what happened.

Then tell them why the Church teaches such behavior is wrong. If they ask why he’s sleeping with a man tell them you don’t know, but it happens.

A 12 year old is old enough to comprehend homosexuality. In today’s society, a kid that age needs to know about it. I don’t see anything wrong with letting your kids play with his. I think it would do a lot of harm if you all of a sudden stopped them from playing with each other.

I don’t understand what his children have to do with his actions.
Why should his children be punished? Imagine how it makes those children feel if others start avoiding them especially if your son is your neighbor’s son’s best friend.

Those kids are going to need their friends. Not only is their family being torn apart, daddy is going out with men. They are growing up too fast and need to play and be kids. Talk to your kids, tell them what has happened. Pray with your children for the other family and then caution them about saying anything that would hurt the other kids. But I wouldn’t stop them from playing together.

by all means, unless there is some other reason not to, let you children visit their friends, after all the guy is not in the home. They also need some explanation from you of why their friends have lost their father, and reassurance it won’t happen to them.

Hello tao,
I am not sure if you are the mother or the father, but I would say not only should your boys still play with their friends, but you, or your husband, might be able to be a positive male influence in those childrens’ lives. Those kids will be confused and have questions that they are afraid to ask their own parents. It would be wonderful if there were open lines of communication enough so that these kids could feel comfortable asking you. I am sure you would be able to give them good guidance.🙂

That’s right! Also, the mom is going to need help too. If the father is this selfish, then maybe he won’t be around as much. She might find herself parenting these children alone. She is going to need a friend too. I can’t imagine how she must feel. I’m sure she is blaming herself for her husband leaving her for men. How sad. Pray that they all get some help. They are all going to need someone to talk to.

Absolutely. Let his children see that not all people are that way and that God is still in His heaven and men still love women and that their father is an aberration, not the norm. And let them know that they are still loved.
