I erased all but the more important part of your post (notice it doesn’t include the sexual orientation of the parents). I find it incredibly creepy for someone I JUST MET, to invite my child out of town. The fact that the wording (if we are getting it accurately) is that her son would like them to take him out of town, decreases the creep factor a bit, but I would assume that the mother agrees with her son, and is making this offer. I would NEVER ask a person to give their child up to me to go out of town, without even knowing them yet! That shows a serious lack of boundaries.…The concern is that she just recently introduced herself and her partner to my sister and said she will be calling so the boys can play together. She said her and her partner go out of town a lot and her son would like my nephew to come along…
For that reason alone, no matter what the orientation or values of the parents, I would keep this family at arms length, at least until I got them well enough for my bad impression to be proven wrong. If a lovely, married, conservative, Catholic, homeschooling family said this to me, I’d be put off and would keep a distance. Really, it’s just creepy.
That said, even if there were no creepy, way too much way to soon factor, and this was just a nice boy with nice moms, I would still keep a distance. I know full well that my children are influenced by their friends, and by the values of their friends’ families - at least when they are close enough to be a part of their daily lives. I don’t imagine I would explain why, but just encourage my child in other interests/friends and just not encourage an intense relationship with this family.
