Maybe a sign that the era of the Church tacitly accepting and condoning sodomite behavior is coming to an end. Let us hope!

As a member of the clergy, I find this answer offensive, judgmental and ill informed. Do not blame the Church for the problem of sin. Blame Satan. The Church, is made up of the Mystical Body of Christ on earth. To make such a statement is myopic at best. At worst, draw your own conclusion.

Deacon:
I thought that the Church consisted of three parts…
  1. The Church Militant (on Earth)
  2. The Church Suffering (in Purgatory)
  3. The Church Triumphant (in Heaven)
Did I miss something in last year’s RCIA classes? If so, I apologize and stand corrected as applicable.

God Bless and good post!

I think the point Deacon was making is that it is the members of the Mystical Body of Chirst on earth that can still sin. Those in Purgatory and Heaven are beyond that. May they help sustain us in our earthly pilgrimage through their prayers.

Judging from the contents of the article, it seems that the man’s gay porn novels were no secret at the parish or among the friars. He was nevertheless allowed to act as a reader.

The point is not that there are sinners in the Church. There always are. The point is rather that this particular person showed no inclination whatever to change his lifestle, his porn writing avocation, or his advocacy of gay marriage.

Why do I get the impression that if another parishioner who openly advocated for the Iraq war and wrote military novels, he might not so easily have been accepted into service at the altar?

As a man who struggles with SSA myself, I find it absolutely disgusting that this man was allowed to serve at this Church as a lector. I find it particularly disturbing when I hear of members of the clergy and religious orders who allow this sort of thing to go on or who participate in such nonsense.
