Yeah, I saw this article…thought it pretty bold to use the term “husband” instead of “partner”, particularly when “husband” is NEVER used in Scripture in terms of “the other husband” and not “wife”…and Scripture being the authority in their denomination.

Sorry for my bad english. I am only a humbel servant of The Catholic Church,and haw no what so ever rigth to say this,but someone must,so let that someone be me. And I say this as a PRIVATE PERSON,so this is by no means the official line of the Church. After reading,year in and out,sad stories like this,it make me wonder about this public debate. I am not homosexual,but I live in celibacy due to my faith as a Catholic who also is divorced. Who are we to judge others. In the Bible we are told by Jesus that we shall not judge. Keeping that in mind,and all other lessons Jesus teached us,I say as the article said,a free quote,“lets call it quits”. Let us put an end to the whole debate. Let us understand that some people are different,yet perfect in Gods eyes. All we should do is to pray for the homosexuals that they live in celibacy. What they are is not the issue,what they do is. So please,let us stop this thing right here. We can do it. Those who,against what is suitable,“practise” their sexual “call” will be judged by God. Not by us. We,if we want to call us christians,must be able to forgive. What God has created is always perfect. Keeping that in mind aswell,let’s stop this now. They the gay’s) need our prayers,not verdicts. As we will one day stay in front of the cross of redamption and here our final verdict,so will they,and our prayers are what they need,not our judgement,wich we have no right to give. What I wrote is my wiew,and I stay behind it,to the end. I believe in God,and all what Jesus teached us,and the most importen things are that God will help and that we shall not judge.

How ironic, if true.
He made his point and massaged his own ego in the process, now he seems to want to “get out” and he would leave others to deal with the (possibly irreversible) damage.

I fear for the body of Christ when such an abject example of moral turpitude is accepted so fully. Sacred Scripture and Holy Tradition are turned upside down; bad become good and good becomes bad; I am left with the conclusion that this whole concept is found only in the spirit of anti-Christ. It is so repellent to me.
His harm has already been done and the wound will fester for years. Parts will become gangrenous. We are shamed and the body will suffer with those who have itching ears to hear false doctrine to assuage their own sins.

That’s all fine and dandy, but when someone claims to be a minister of God, the same God we have, and claims publically through their lifestyle and position as a BISHOP that such homosexual relationships and actions are not only OK but are sanctioned by God, you think we should keep silent?
Yes, agreed, God will judge all of us, but we also are commissioned to spread the Gospel, the correct one, and in Christian Charity correct our brothers and sisters in Christ.
So…if this person was quietly living a “gay” life, we would most certainly take a different approach. However, this guy is preaching a false Gospel through his words, his status and position in his ecclesial community, and his example.

Sure. We can stop talking about homosexual activists (and Robinson was certainly that, if nothing else) when they leave the rest of us alone. Stop demanding entry into the Boy Scouts, leave Catholic adoption agencies free to set their own policies, leave religious groups free to set their own membership policies, stop trying to use the state to force the rest of us to approve of their behavior.
Being from Finland, you probably never heard of Rodney King, but your plea rings as hollow as his (during the Los Angeles riots): “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Jesus taught us through St. Paul;
“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching.” **(1 Tim 4:1-2)
We are called to preach & teach the Truth of Jesus Christ, so as to help those in sin (all of us) to “repent and believe in the Gospel!” (Mk 1:15)

It is not easy to live as a prophetic witness to Truth as friend Gene Robinson lived. He and his partner have face much controversy and have lived under the threat of violence to live their witness of the Truth that gay men and lesbian women are God’s dear children, and through their lives the infinite diverstity of God’s image in our world included those gay men and lesbian women who seek to serve Him.
I met Gene Robinson at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral…he is a dynamic and amazing speaker…his heart is full of compassion and mercy for his detractors. His book “Going to Heaven” speaks to the hate and fear he has faced at the hands of his straight brothers and sisters.
I wish he and his partner peace and God’s blessings.
