My good friend has come to me and allowed me to tell her story so she can ask her question on this site.
Recently, she French kissed the same gender and is mortified with what she did and has deep regret. She will go to confession tomorrow, but when she confesses to the priest, does she have to say she French kissed or just kissed the same gender? Does she have to say “I kissed the same gender with my tongue” or just, “I kissed the same gender”
This is a very sensitive topic for her and I appreciate all of your comments.

I’m no expert in this, but I would say this:

She should probably mention that she French Kissed someone of the same gender, just to be safe.

I mean, French Kissing is sort of more than just one little kiss.

There is a vast difference between French kissing and a peck on the cheek - something that women often give to one another which has no sexual content, meaning, or intent.

To put it in the words of Henry Fonda, “swapping spit” has a meaning, and that meaning is sexual. Saying that she “kissed” a girl doesn’t identify that it was a sexual kiss, and could deceive the confessor. Anything less is hedging.

Let her identify what is bothering her conscience as general as she wishes. If her confessor wants more info, he will ask for it.

Fear should never be a factor in approaching the Lord in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

As the Holy Father has stated, we may be reluctant to approach the Lord with our indiscretions, He is never tired of granting us mercy.

It never hurts to confess something. Sometimes we don’t want to because it’s embarrassing, etc. but God knows about it anyway so just do it!

It might be better just to say that she intemitly kissed someone from the same gender rather than French kissed. The priest won’t be stupid or shocked. I’m pretty sure that the priest will have heard it all before
