You can have your own special, private definition of addiction, but real addiction is a chronic brain disease. Homosexual activity is not addictive in the same way that alcohol or some drugs or even some kinds of activities like gambling can be.
What about sex addicts? For many I would think, people addicted to the dopamine rush of sex that wears off, and they move on to SS acting out would contradict that supposition.

Here’s something from WebMD:
You’ve probably heard of sex addiction, but you might be surprised to know that there’s debate about whether it’s truly an addiction, and that it’s not even all about sex.

“That’s a common misconception,” says Rory Reid, PhD, LCSW, a research psychologist at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. “It is no more about sex than an eating disorder is about food or pathological gambling is about money.”

Sex addicts, in other words, are not simply people who crave lots of sex. Instead, they have underlying problems – stress, anxiety, depression, shame – that drive their often risky sexual behavior.

Are alcoholics or those are who are addicted to substances, born that way?
Do people who have an addiction to eating too much, gambling, or other addictions, are they born that way?
I am not a doctor. I am not educated enough to say whether or not this is something that they were born with.
The few Gay people I know or have known, all have seemed to me to be nice and good people.
At the end of our lives in this world, we all will be judged upon the way we lived. What we have done and what we failed to do.

Question…let’s say a practicing Catholic holds the view that homosexual behavior is not a sin, and they know what the Church teaches on this. Can they still take communion?
This is a very loaded question and one that could cause a lot on heated discussion here.

There needs to be a lot of discernment, prayer and a discussion with a very trusted priest on this.

Some may say outright, no. Some may disagree and think it is fine. Again, a very loaded question.
