This is from Ignitum. The comments are telling… Anyone know about this site?

Homosexuality in Downton Abbey
I have never watched it, I don’t have a T.V. But I agree with the correspondent. Those kinds of scenes do not have to be displayed. There was a time when immoral behaviors which " needed " expression were deftly but only hinted at. Today it seems like the media can’t do anything unless it is " in your face. " And I thik it is immoral and in very bad taste. Linus2nd

That’s because they know of the rest of the story and how it connects…
Exactly.

I think the article hits on all the points that I would make if someone said they turned off the series after the first kissing scene. If I’m remembering the first season and second season correctly, that first kissing scene is about the extent of the characters acting on their attraction. This third season, the character’s homosexuality could have dire consequences for the character. I never saw the kissing scene or any of this particular character’s storyline as glorifying homosexuality like other current tv shows and movies. If anything, Downton Abbey has written same sex attraction as particularly burdensome, a personal cross to carry.
