…not to be disrespectful… have you considered that it is a matter of will?

Huh? I’m sorry, I’m having difficulty understanding what you’re asking most of the time, and this is the most confusing of all.

J,

Would you do me a big huge favor and discontinue posting except only in response to those posts which are responses to your posts? (If you follow me?) “Verbal diarrhea” may have been a “crass” way of putting it on Peduzzi’s behalf, but I have to confess that the substance of the comment remains true.

This has actually been a pretty decent discussion thread, considering the typically volitile topic, and I would love to keep it that way. It’s going to be pretty hard to do so as long as everyone is having to wade through page after page after page of isolated posts from yourself (or anyone else).

Thanks in advance for understanding.

…yet, I do not think that they are having a problem with understanding… their problem seems to stem from a desire to have God’s Word and His Church acquiesce to their wants and demands…

…some people use the once saved always saved rethoric to suggest that Scriptures are only speaking about the need of non-Belivers to repent from their sins and their ways… once saved, there’s no need for repentence 'cause past, present, and future sins are automatically forgiven in Christ Jesus… that, of course, is not Christ’s Teaching! Scriptures make it clear that we have to accept Christ’s mediation and we must confess our sins and repent from our wicked ways–no matter how many times we fail!

Yet, if we are obstinate enough to not accept sin as sin we delude ourselves since we are rejecting the Church’s Authority, which she inherited from Christ Himself.

It might be true that it is less about understanding and more about some desiring the Church to acquiesce to their wants and demands.

Either way, they are rejecting Church authority.

Here’s the rub for me. If I really get into the nitty gritty, and I have, I’ve talked to catholic bioethics experts (The NCBC to be exact), they really have no answer for me. Do you know what the actual reason for me having to be celibate is?

‘Just to be on the safe side’

That’s their reasoning. They have no way of telling, there is little to no scripture that applies to my situation, so ‘just to be safe’. I’m not to ever develop romantic relationships, ever, with either sex, ever, and it would probably be best to live a life of solitude ontop of that because my endocrine system may tend to me acting out on intrinsically disordered thoughts. Which is to say any thoughts at all, since any relationship at all with either gender is potentially sinful.

I’m not rebelling against the church per say, I am aggravated by their inability to give me a straight answer.

Just to be safe, y’know.

How did you communicate with them? Writing, Phone? Was it one discussion or a series of discussions? The nature of the discussions could have played a role in some miscommunication, misunderstandings, etc. Just a thought.

An email discussion and then later on the phone, for about an hour and a half. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t any miscommunication.

It was just a thought. For something this complex, I would feel more comfortable with sit down face to face meetings with several people in the room including experts and directors.

I’m just one person with a very spiritually, biologically, socially, logically and legally confusing problem. The amount of effort and money they’d have to spend on me to probably end up with the same answer are probably prohibitive.

Everything in our society, religion, law and history are bent at gender being binary, 0 or 1, A or B. There isn’t any room for something else, and it just kind of makes the whole process shut down due to there simply not being able way to take account of it.

Well, you won’t know unless you try. I would not consider the answer acceptable or final. If they did give you a straight answer, would you be willing to accept it, especially if it was contrary to what you currently believe?

I understand, it’s easy to talk when you’re not in the person’s shoes.

I’m legally married, so…probably not, I will admit. I’m one of those bible revisionists. That’s why I don’t really care to waste their time, it’s not going to change things in the end. I’ve made my choice, and I’m happier because of it.

If the Church doesn’t have an authoritative final answer on an issue, don’t quote me but I think we can follow our conscience as long as it doesn’t contradict something else. It kinda looks like that’s what you have done. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can reject Church authority on other issues.

I think you mean:
Homosexuality in genetics.
Much waffle has been written, and yes, there are cases where homosexuality is a depraved practice, but Science accepts, and it is incumbent upon the Church to accept, that gender is not a purely two state situation.
Not black or white, but an infinite number of grey shades, which from afar look black and white.
These “grey” states are not defective black or white states, to be crow-barred into one situation or another, but are valid states in themselves.
They are, if you like, situations, chosen by G_d, and it is gross impiousness to gainsay the judgement of G_d in assigning that situation.
It is grossly impious to judge these intersex persons as male or female, and it is also impious to judge their attraction to another human being as SSA, for as their own sex is indeterminate, how can their attraction to another human being be judged as SSA or DSA.

If they are genuinely not sure of what to tell you, then I believe SCALCO was correct. Your intent should be to follow God’s lead and if it is and you believe that what you are doing is truly in keeping with His will, then you are doing the best you can do.

And if, in the worst case scenario, what you are doing - objectively speaking - is sin, you would not be held guilty of it to the extent that you truly, sincerely are applying yourself to doing what God wants of you.

It’s easy to make excuses for our sinful deeds, but we are also only human afterall and, thus, have limited vision at times. God does not call us to “see all”, but to be as faithful as we can be to the path He has placed immediately in front of us.

Whether you are completely faithful to that in your own life or are not at all is not for any of us here to judge, of course. That’s solely between you and God. For my part, I want to express my appreciation to you for sharing your story here. You’ve not had an easy life. I again apologize for those who share the name Christian and have interacted with you in an “less than Christian” manner and want to encourage you once more to strive, as we all should, for fidelity to God’s will. Though it’s hard to see in the here and now sometimes, in the end, **none **of our good intentions or deeds go unnoticed and, in fact, it is those that carry the largest crosses in this life who will reap the largest eternal rewards.

God bless you on your journey.

I bet if science were to actually separate a gene, it would only apply to a small fraction of those who are in homosexual lifestyles. Which would then require counseling for a gigantic proportion of the gay population who thought they were gay, and now science says they are not.

In the same vein that homosexuality is hereditary, so is poverty, alcoholism, and child abuse.
Although I can’t prove it with documentation, I think it has been shown that some people are more inclined to alcoholism than others. I can’t remember if it is because of a missing gene, chromosome, or what. But looking at the reactions our Native Americans have after drinking alcohol should give an indication that some adverse physical reaction is occuring when they drink alcohol. Of course poverty and hopelessness play a part in this too. But the early settlers soon found the way to make NAs helpless and crazy was to give them liquor.

…you stated that you were in early childhood when you began to think of boys and acting upon your thoughts; that your parents and their Priest decided to seek a physical enhancement to coerce you into a male persona; that the Church (Priests) had told you that you should not engage persons of either sex into romantic/sexual relationships… you state that your predisposition is towards the male sex…

Since you do not stipulate that you have female sex organs, I can only conclude that it must be due to your will (personal desire) to seek a relationship with a male.

…it is too bad that you are not a medic…

…I’ll do you one better, I’ll remove the tag from this thread and I’ll keep your screen name in mind to make sure I avoid your comments (so as not to confuse your train of thought) whenever I encounter them.
