congratulations sister amy!atlast you have posted a opposit thread like i have posted “the honor of women in islam”.ok very good.but as a new christian i know few of bible so i can’t join this discussion.its unfortunate for me.but i hope my christian fellows answer your thread properly.bt i just can say now in the christian world women are living a free life.but in muslim countries women living a life of slave&muslims trying to prove it as honor!

Well some people say that women aren’t honored in Islam, so I was wondering how they are “honored” in Christianity.

I understand that women are not allowed to be priests… is that correct? Why–if men and women are equal?
Both Judaism and Christianity believe and teach that prophetic ministry was not confined to men (Miriam is called a prophetess in the book of Exodus and Luke’s Gospel defines Anna in the temple as a prophetess). Nevertheless, the Koran contends that there were only prophets (males) and surprisingly asks Muslims to consult Jews and Christians for the confirmation of its arguments. LOL

Code:
That Irespect woman donot talk vulgar with them. Coz Male and Female have different gene. Even you donot talk to your same gene like this. Islam is a discipline religion.
why because she said " uetrus" and ovaries? the Quran uses “vagina” while talking about Mary…is that vulgare as well? or not anymore?

Catholicism has always celebrated those women who are examples of Christian piety and reverance. That is fact, check it out.

Is the question spun from the other thread abour Honor of Women in Islam? If so, than we can talk about the legal rights in non-Muslim states. But I do not think that is what you really want to discuss. When we say that Muslim States do not respect women, you tell us that that is not true Islam and it is a perversion. So why are our western governments representative of Christianity? Either they both are or we can allow that neither one is.

In Catholicism and Christianity in general, honoring women does not mean forbidding, chastising, subduing, or even persecuting women to try and preserve their purity. Women, like men, have free will, and can choose to live their lives in the ways they see fit. We hope and pray that they choose to live a life of Christ, but we merit the Holy Spirit in changing their hearts. The honor and dignity we give women acknowledges that they can choose.

This is a far cry from the radical “honor killings” we sometimes hear about from the Muslim world. There’s no honor in killing humans, especially women.

How are women honored in Christianity? By the Church? By the Bible?

I’m not poking fun or anything, just wondering what there is to be said on the topic…
The honour given to His Blessed Mother in my view says it all!

You might not be poking fun… but I don’t like the way you start a thread in reaction to another one, maybe outwardly to equalize, but it certainly sounds like seeking revenge! It’s not the first time you’re doing this, I know, but you know, you got me angered on one occasion. I hope you’re not going to the same extent this time.
It doesn’t mean I enjoyed what happened in that other thread, “the honor of women in Islam”. As soon as I saw the title, I knew it would invite some disrespect from some ppl. But if you just seek to ignate some heated talk and hatred in doing so I am not so interested, thank you!!!
I came in passing, but if you’ll excuse me, I’m not staying around this one any longer. Salam!

I am talking about myself and favouring myself. One and Only Above knows what in our hearts. You should not judge anyone. I think thats what Bible say so also.

Well, Amy, it isn’t really a question of being allowed.

Men cannot be ‘mothers’; they do not possess uterus, ovaries, etc. While men and women are equal in soul and dignity of person, that does not mean that they are interchangeable. Priesthood in the Catholic Church is a calling. . .not something to which a person can ‘fulfil a role’. In fact, one could argue that not just ‘any’ man is ‘allowed’ to be a priest either.

And of course, while a priesthood is a noble vocation, so is that of marriage, or of chaste single life. And priesthood isn’t about being honored or ‘better than’ a man–or a woman–but of a service called and instituted by God.
Amen 👍

(ps–that is not a rhetorical question. I’m sure there’s a valid answer, and that’s what I want to hear… thanks in advance.)
O.K., I’ll grant you this one post, Sister Amy.
The question of priesthood restricted to some men is not only in Catholicism. In Judaism it was even more precisely restricted to Aaron and his descendants. No other clans among the Levites were called by God. and no one from the other tribes of Israel either.
In Christianity, Jesus called 12 men to be His apostles. No women. If it had been a matter of perfect life as to obeying the Commandments, He could have included His own mother, but He didn’t. Was He dishonouring her in doing so? No! It’s like when Jesus said: "As for sitting at my right hand or my left hand, it’s not for me to grant you that, they will be chosen by my Father! "
It’s not, as far as I know, a matter for discussion, even though it’s not easy to discern correctly God’s call… Priests are there to offer sacrifices, and Christian priests (at least the Catholic and Orthodox priests) offer a sacrifice in Jesus the only true High Priest. And so it’s not a matter to take lightly.
Is there a priesthood in Islam, Sister Amy? I don’t believe there is any, is there? I think imams are a bit like rabbis, “teachers”, are they not?
Now, I think my contribution to this thread will end here, if you don’t mind!
God bless you all!

Ever heard of that French saying, tomshaikh? “Chat échaudé craint l’eau froide”… That’s all there is to it, my friend!
I hope you don’t enjoy shows of disrespect in the threads you take part in. That would be very low in the One true Allah’s view, I’m sure you’ll agree here with me.
I have seen my share, and I just wanted that Sister Amy would avoid doing what she once did, that’s all! Even though it was not directed to me, I was truly incensed then… Up to now, it seems to be on a much better level, thanks be to God, but I can’t help being a bit apprehensive, forgive me! O.K.?
