"Honor the Sacred Heart."

As part of my penance, in addition to the usual prayers, my confessor told me to honor the Sacred Heart.

What does that mean?

I was born under various sacred picture and the Sacred Heart. I even have it my house for many years, but it was only recently that I realized what it means.

My heart was hurt over what happened to a friend. As I was trying to meditate and make sens on what I was feeling in my heart, I opened my eyes and Jesus was looking at me pointing to his sacred heart. Immediately I understood the meaning of the fire and the thorns. I stood up and went closer to it. It struck me to realize that that the picture actually portaits what Jesus is feeling in his heart. I realised that it is not just symbology. I could myself feel the thorns, I could even feel like bleeding interiorly.

I realize that It shows how we are related to Jesus. Remember that his commandement is to love one another. And that the world of the last judgement are equaly related to what we do to or not do to our neighbor.
After more prayers, I realized that the fire in the Sacred Heart is the fire of love. His love for us. When we love we can feel like fire burning in our hearts.

I think what the priest suggested was to make sure the fire of Jesus love is always burning in your heart. To make sure you can feel it. Sometimes we can kindle it during great prayer moments like Eucharistic adoration or some great gathering like the World Youth Day. You can look at people and see that there is fire burning in their hearts. When we have it, we feel like sharing it with others.

An other way to respect the Sacred Heart is to make sure we don’t hurt others. Or if we happen to be desapointed, not to get too discouraged because it happened to Jesus.

In few words, I think he want you to meditate on ways you can unite your hearts to the one of Jesus. To live a ‘eucharistic life’. Some of the eucharistic miracles I have heard of, the consacrated bread changed into a human heart, bleeding and on fire. There is one video of it on youtube.

Always burning with love, always offering sacrifice. I try to remember that everytime I receive the Eucharist, I actually receive the heart of Jesus in me. That we are living tabernacles/arcs of covenants. I try to pray considering that He is in my heart. Lowering ‘my head into my heart’. I can feel his desires.They are not always easy to my poor heart to accomplish, but prayer keeps increasing my strength and faith.
