Lately, the priest at my churh has been to caring and fatherly towards me. It feels like he supports me and loves me like a daughter, unlike my parents. I appreciate everything theyve done for me, but, they always try to make me feel bad when I want to do something and call me inconsiderate. I never feel their support or love. I sometimes wish Father would go ahead and adopt me. Becaus I dont think I can stand anymore of my Parents. What should i do? I want to go to confessional, but im not allowed to yet.

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.”
(Psalms 27:10)

I believe, this situation should not be “resolved”: you cannot change your parents, neither you can replace them.

The situation should be accepted as it is, after all the parents gave you life, other parents would give life to somebody else, not you.

Childhood is not forever, you are not doomed, the major action is after you leave the parents. Prepare yourself to the future, it is more important than transient youth.

And don’t forget about your Father in Heaven!

Blessings

I am sorry that you are going through all this drama with your parents. Do your parents abuse you? Are you upset because you want to do whatever you want to do and they won’t allow it? Have you sat down with your parents and had an honest and open conversation with them about how you feel? If not, how do you expect things too change if you have not vocalised it.

Remember as a Christian you are called to ‘honour thy parents’. While you are living under their roof you are to abide by their rules. When you turn 18 you can choose to join the Church, in the meantime learn all you can about the faith.

Sounds to me like you need to talk to your parents. Unless your parents are physically or emotionally abusive you have a responsibility to love honor and obey them.

The questions is, are you irresponsible or are your parents being overly critical. Are they trying to teach you something or are you being too sensitive. It may be that their methods are too overbearing or it may be that no matter how they discipline you, you will react as if they are being unreasonable.

I assume you are a minor, but even as an adult, one needs to be responsive to the guidance of our parents. Are they not just looking out for your well being. It may be that in their judgement you are placing yourself at risk. It is their RIGHT and RESPONSIBILITY to protect you from your own poor judgement.

EVEN IF the priest were to adopt you, my guess is that the priest would then place the same type of restrictions on you that your parents are now. Or he may be even more restrictive.

What is it that they are preventing you from doing ???
