Really, he is trying to look out for your health and I’m sure you are aware of that. Right now, you are under his roof and I would imagine it would be proper to abide by his wishes. After you move, however, that is different. I know priests that smoke.Im wondering because I would consider myself an adult. Im 19, make all my decisions myself but will be living with them for the summer until college starts up. I occasionally enjoy smoking ciggerettes but my dad does not like me to. I dont wanna hear “ciggerettes are bad you shouldnt smoke them”, I am just wondering if my actions are permissable or if I am morally unable to do so.
Unless they are asking you to do anything illegal or immoral then you should obey their rules. Afterall its their house you will be living in.What exactly does this mean? Obviously it means always respect them always and also when your a child it means to obey them. But after that, what does this commandment mean? Does it mean you have to always obey them? Or is there an age when you have to make your own decisions? and what is this age? 18? 21? older?
I agree. I’m twice your age and wouldn’t dream of breaking my parents house rules even though I’m a married adult with children of my own.You abide by the house rules when you live with your parents regardless of your age. Nineteen or thirty-nine, their house… their rules.
