Honouring mother and father

Hi there. Looking for some advice/guidance/reminders.

So I’m M/43. I’ll be getting married next spring.

My parents are divorced, and my father is civilly re-married. His new wife is a florist.

I can get flowers (real or fake) for my wedding at a very good price through her.

Just wondering…

My mother has suggested that I get flowers through my dad’s new wife. (Saving lots of money.)

I am still undecided if I want her involved beyond simply attending. If my mother didn’t want me to get flowers this way, I wouldn’t. Once she suggested it, I now have to see hwo I feel about it.

Is it disrespecting my dad if I choose to not get flowers through his new wife?
Is it disrespecting my mom if I do choose these flowers through her?

Any other thoughts?

I don’t see how it is disrespecting either parent as your Dad surely wouldn’t object, and your mother is forgiving enough to suggest it herself.

You may be hurt over your dad’s past mistakes, but I think your mom is mature. I fear that going elsewhere may cause more trouble.

I’d only be concerned about imposing on her.

Yup, the only person who will be disrespected is your bride if you do not come to an agreement with your bride regardless of what you choose. Honestly, at 43 I really think where to buy flowers is NOT an issue your parents get to weight in on

Your wedding/your flowers, no disrespect applies to any parent involved. You are not under any obligation to get your flowers from anywhere you don’t want to purchase them. If your father’s wife is kind enough to offer a discount and the flowers are what you want, then save some money and get them from her. If they don’t fit what you had in mind, then buy them elsewhere. If you feel weird having her so intimately involved, then tell your Mom thanks for the suggestion, but you want to shop around.
