Didn’t Jesus say in that you are not even supposed to look at another person with lust in your eye because that is the same as adultery? Adultery violates the 10 Commandments.
Yeah, and that’s something it’s realistic to expect people not to do. I think no one can say anything more than answering “no” to “Have you looked at another person in lust?” when the answer is really yes.

Here’s a novel criticism. It caters to the wrong socio-economic class.

As I recall, Jesus spent a lot of time with what might be called white trash.
Now that deserves an amen. His followers talking about who you should and shouldn’t associate with would cause Jesus’s eyes to pop out of his head and roll around on the floor. I can’t imagine what he thinks of those people.

there is nothing at all wrong or immoral about hooters. A priest blessed one, so what? good for him. It’s not like they promote anything bad, there’s no openly perverse message about what we should be doing instead of going to church, it’s a decent restaurant that actually has managed to do well for itself in both quality and customer service.

Yes…I go when i can, but the food is excellent and the people friendly. If there’s a problem with a priest blessing a place like that, then there’s a problem with priests blessing a lot of things.
remebers name for if there were a friends list

Peace be with you!

Well, Ortho, I have been to Hooters three or four times. I can tell you honestly that the people in here are right about what it is, even if they haven’t been there themselves. Men go in there to see girls (most of the time quite a bit younger than themselves) in scandalous attire. The reason the service is so “friendly” is because the girls will flirt with you to try to get a bigger tip, and it probably works a lot of the time.

Sounds like almost every bar ever built. There is almost always a young bartender in tight clothing who’ll listen/flirt to get a bigger tip.

Almost like when I was asking older women for their proof of age when I was younger and bartending.

They were so flattered. 😃

Ever been to Hooters? On what do you base your evaluation?
I have been, but not in recent times. Even if I had not been it still would not discredit my observation.

I’ve been in there 30 or forty times and see all variations of normal behavior. Some look at girls, some discuss ral estate, some read the paper, some talk about sports. I once interviewed a job applicant. It’s not unusual to see women customers. I suppose we could say men look at women in all settings. And we could also say women look at men in all settings. That’s how we are made.

I wonder if men look at women in church? Do women look at men in church? In what setting do people not look at the opposite sex?

Scandalous attire? Walked down the street lately? Who besides Church-Lady would be scandalized?

I too have been to Hooters. Outside the Fleet Center in Boston on one of the side streets. Good food, good price, and good service as others have said. Whenever I go to a Sox game or a Bruins game I make sure to go there when I need a good, reasonably prices meal.

I have seen women dressed more suggestively on public beaches during the summer time.
Does that mean this bar/restaurant is good for society because other places provide the same inappropriate dress? Is a bar the same as a beach? Is the bar specfically designed to draw men in to it in a particular way? Is the dress and the message acceptable because the food is good?

If you had not been there, you would not have observed anything.

The same complaint made against Hooters within this thread could be made about almost any bar or pub around Happy Hour time; in fact, one is more likely to find more immodest dress on the patrons in any numberof these businesses than the watresses wear at Hooters.
The bar is specifically designed as marketed using immodesty and impure desires.
If one has a particualr problem with lust, one might want to avoid going out in public almost anywhere during the summer, and most business establishments catering to food and/or dring, any time of the year.
Disingenuous.
It is also interesting to see the posts which seem to presume that they either know why the priest gave a blessing, or presume that the priest was wrong.
The article says what it says.
Further, there seems to be a presumption that any male looking at a female who has large breasts and who has not gone out of her way to hide that fact, is automatically going to lust after her. That is not necessarily so; many men can and do appreciate the female form without lusting. Others seem to be stuck in permanent teen age fantasy land.
Disingenuous and ignores the specfic intent of the bar.

What’s the message? How do you know the message? Who told you?

The place has advertizing and local promotions that appear on TV and elsewhere. Playing coy about the place really is silly.

And from those ads, you discern what?

Observation, right reason, common knowledge, experience and an informed conscience.

That’s the message of Hooters? Sounds like a dusty old theology class.

That is how I know the message is not a good one. The message itself is known to anyone who has seen the ads or has been to the place.

You keep referring to the “message.” What is the message?

Does one have to have “Observation, right reason, common knowledge, experience and an informed conscience” to see the message?

Why pretend not to know the obvious? Why does the place use the term Hooters? Why do the female servers dress as they are required to dress?

You comment on the message, then can’t tell us the message? Just tell us the message. If it’s obvious, it should be easy.
