I had a family member that was a seemingly hopeless person with addictions and mental issues. We all let this person go, assuming that they’d never change, and thought it best to cut off communications with them for safety and sanity’s sake. This person recently passed away as a result of their addictions and now there’s guilt about cutting ties and giving up on them. I detached myself to the point that I didn’t even think to pray for them. It now seems obvious to me that I wAs lacking charity in a lot of ways and I was just hoping that someone could throw some
thoughts out there that might help me put this into perspective. I’d like to go to confession with a more clear understanding of what my real issue was. I could use some outside thoughts on the matter.
Thanks
