I could really use prayers right now. I’ve been going through a down phase, I guess it’s depression. A lot has happened to me in the past month and I got severely down about things. Then something momentous happened that is still going on and could go on for a while. When it did, my thoughts became very dark, verging on despair. Any prayers would be appreciated.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that
never was it known that anyone who fled to
thy protection, implored thy help, or
sought thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins,
our Mother. To thee do we come,
before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not our petitions but in
thy mercy hear and answer us. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread, and
forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us, and
lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil,
for Thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory
for ever and ever. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and
to the Son, and
to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and
ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

Lord Jesus,

You promised us that you would be a light in the darkness. You promised us that faith just the size of a mustard seed would be enough.
Lord, sometimes, when we feel that we are in darkness, we have trouble knowing that you are there. Our faith begins to frail.
But we are in winter Lord. The darkness of winter, and it’s coldness may envelop us, but we know that spring is coming. That light is coming.
I plead for StudentMi, Lord, on the behalf of this child of yours, that light begins to fill the soul, that darkness begins to dispel. If the evil one is prevailing, Lord, I ask in YOUR name, Lord, that you bind whatever is holding fast, be it depression or despair, or lack of hope. In your name, bind it and make it flee. Help this soul regain the joy of salvation, of peace, of love. And in the darkness, begin to see the light of your love, and desire to live in that love, forever.

Amen.

Praying for you! I hope things turn out better for you in the days to come.

I’ve had depression for years. There’s really no need to go through that. One thing is sadness. The other is depression. Sadness is said to be the emotional equivalent of a cold, and depression is the emotional equivalent of cancer.

If it’s depression, if you are not already in treatment, I would ask if you would consider it. In days gone by, people had little alternative, had to grin and bear it. No more. There are good counselors and good medications. For instance, I take an antidepressant that’s non-addictive.

It generally takes 2-6 weeks, depending on an antidepressant, to take effect, normally.

With talking this out, it helps. I am not sure why, but I just know it does. I worked as a Spanish interpreter for 4 years. Some of those, I was in mental health, and it did my clients a LOT of good to talk about problems, whether the counselor could do anything else but listen, or not.

It is often good to have an objective person who has empathy, experience. Also, he/she might know of other solutions to some problems you may had never even considered. Two heads are often better than one.

Sometimes, there are community resources of which you may not be aware…strategies and techniques for handling situations.

How are you sleeping? When I’m depressed, I don´t sleep well. Insomnia can cause depression. Depression can cause insomnia. If you have sleep issues, get them resolved, because it will only make matters worse.

Some folks with sleep problems, providing it is okay with your doctor, can use an over-the-counter, or even prescription, sleep aid. I have tried natural remedies, but I need something with more “kick”, apparently, so will see if I can get something stronger.

In the US, they gave me a prescription sleeping pill, one that was non-addictive.

Insofar as counseling is concerned, if you have health insurance, at least a few visits may be covered. If you haven´t tried counseling, what do you have to lose?

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon ClearWater in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Holy Michael the Archangel defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

A Prayer Against Depression

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.
