Hello All!

A few of us in Casper, WY have started the ball rolling. Spoken to the Dean of the Diocese of Cheyenne. There’s a meeting with our Bishop in the works.

I’ve been asked to head up the music. We really need someone better suited. But we shall begin rehearsing nonetheless.

Just wanted to let you know. Tips appreciated.

Good luck. Remember you now have a right to an EF mass. So be polite, and charitable, and accomodating. And don’t criticise other masses if you can at all help it.

You’re in my prayers, Richard; I hope you get not only the Mass but personal parishes along with all the other “stable groups” out there.

I’d be grateful if you keep us posted about what the bishop says.

My parish has done it without music. My pastor took it upon himself to learn how to do a low Mass. Just a thought in case the idea of having music is too much.

Malcom, JJ, and Cathryn, thanks! Will advise as things progress. I was really hoping to get those who want to be part of the schola to “read” rather than mimic. But no such joy.

But we have made a beginning. 2nd rehearsal next Saturday. It’s great to sing something worth singing again.

Awesome! Now ya’ll won’t have to drive down to our Parish for the TLM. Good luck, neighbor! 👍

I am applying to Wyoming Catholic College and I was wondering if you know anything about it. I know it is in Lander sort of near Casper so I was wondering if you could describe it a little for me?
Thanks:D

I know nothing about it. Regis University’s campus is about 3 minutes away from me, though.

I don’t get it y’all say that you are in the Denver Diocese, which has had a PFSP mass for years. And then you are saying that you are getting the Latin mass in WY. Where do you live or am I confusing two people?

I really miss living near Denver :crying: and Archbishop Chaput is AWESOME! :knight2:

If any of you are in Denver and get the chance go to Holy Ghost Church GO! It is beautiful and go to the 10:00am mass because then you are assured of good music! So GOOOOOOO!🙂

Margarite, I’ve not laid eyes on it. I know some of the people heading it up by name only. Have had some chats with Dr. Robert Carlson, some of the faculty over a weeks retreat, “Wyoming School of Catholic Thoguht.”

Father Cook taught some of the RCIA classes.

Sorry I’m not more helpful.

Denver is a city in Colorado. Wyoming is a state north or Colorado. Where I live, Caper, is 4 to 5 hours from Denver.

In Riverton, Wyoming, Father Duncan, my friend, has begun celebrating the Latin Mass. That’s 2 hours away.

I totally agree Archbishop Chaput is the best. My only complaint is I wish he would come out to the western slope more. We get a little neglected out here. Don’t know more much about the college in Casper, but I know Archbishop Chaput went there for grand opening or whatever. He’s pretty traditional so I would assume the college is pretty traditional too. But I really don’t know for sure.

The best tip I can give for a budding EF Mass is… tithe!

Tithing is an important thing to do anyways, but even more so when you’re trying to upstart something. How can anyone criticize something that pledges (and delivers) a non-proportional amount of funds.

It stinks that it’s this way, but it is.

I am registered at Holy Ghost. I attend the NO in Latin at Holy Ghost. Their pipe organ is awesome.

Are the Oblates still at Holy Ghost? We had a Fr. Baron, Fr. Mullen or Muller, and another priest who had just come from years in South America and was in culture shock (at first he had a huge grey beard).
I love that church and no matter where I am living, if I get married it will be in that church. Have you ever been to the St. Cecilia mass? If not go next year it is amazing (make sure you get there an hour early at least though).
The cathedral is second best. Do you know the choir director there? He and his wife are wonderful people.
The one drawback to Holy Ghost is that singer woman. She is horrible and liberal, and takes so much away from the beauty of the mass. She needs to be kicked out.
If any of the above mentioned priests is still there then ask them about the family that had six kids. They will probably remember us. They came to our house a number of times so they should!
Do they have their retreat house going? I know they had a good start when we were there 4 years ago. I really miss going to a mass with beautiful music and in a gorgeous church. I thank heaven that the 10:00 mass will always be beautiful there.
Is the deacon who swings the thurible way over people’s heads still there? I really liked him he seemed like he really loved being a deacon and he was conservative.
Oh well enough of the past back to circus tent church central with screaming cantors and liberal priests. 🤷

Question, if your parish is an ordinary use parish that wishes to celebrate the EF why does the bishop have to be involved? I thought as long as the proper parish council procedures were taken and everyone gave the nod, you could have say, a high mass on Sunday at 1pm or what not.

Here’s an update. Tomorrow, Sunday, March 9th at 12:30, the Latin Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church.

🙂

Fr. Duncan is one of my dear friends as well…He married my daughter four years ago. Didn’t realize he was celebrating a Latin Mass. We don’t see him often enough and it’s been awhile.

I think Latin Masses will continue to grow across the state because we do have a fantastic bishop!

I may have to make a trip to Casper some weekend this summer and attend. I’m two hours north of you, so it’s a pretty easy drive.

Fill me in here or PM me the particulars, parish, time, etc.

Just re-read my post and it sounds ALL wrong! :o:bigyikes:

Fr. Duncan didn’t marry my daughter, he presided at her wedding. There, that sounds much better…
