Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I read an article yesterday and it raised some hope in my heart that Ireland may yet return to its Catholic roots! God will always preserve a remnant!

Over 300 volunteers, a Redemptorist team of 12 along with the cathedral staff, 62 hymns and 10,000 people will make up this year’s Galway Novena, according to the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference.

The Galway Solemn Novena makes its annual return from Monday, February 18 and will run until Tuesday, February 26 at Galway Cathedral. Now in its 38th year, this year’s Novena will reflect on the Joy of Love and Family Life Today. The early morning weekday Masses will begin at 7:30 am for the early risers and those that wish to take in the Novena before beginning their day.

Preachers for the Novena will include Fr. Tony Rice from Belfast, Fr. Denis Luddy from Cork, Fr Gerry O’Connor from Limerick City and Environmental scientist Neil Foley from Wexford. Neil’s latest collaborations are on the Hook of Faith digital evangelization project and with The Mustard Seeds contemporary worship group. Married to Helen he has a certificate in Pastoral Theology and works as an environmental scientist.

Weekday Mass times are at 7:30 am, 11 am, 1:10 pm, 3:30 pm, 7:30 pm, 9 pm and Mass will be said at 9 am, 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:30 pm and 8 pm on Sunday. Children will be blessed after all the sessions on Sunday. Mass and Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on Saturday 23 at 11 am.

Candle-light meditation sessions will take place at 10.00 pm on Wednesday 20th and Monday 25th and last about an hour.

Thursday, February 21, is a day on which there will be a special focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This beautiful ceremony will take place at three sessions: 7.30 am, 1.10 pm, and 9.00 pm.
When the Irish failed to uphold the right to life in their recent election, my heart sank, thinking of how many saints gave their lives to preserve the Faith in Ireland. Many risked their lives to participate at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, many were martyred. In reading the article, I am trusting the Holy Spirit to continue His work in the Universal Church, bringing us into all truth.

Please let us pray for all our brothers and sisters all over the world, and especially this coming Feb 21 - 24 for the Bishops meeting in Rome to pray and resolve what they must do in the light of the abuse crisis worldwide.

Dear Limoncello,

Thanks so much for posting this! Yes – a million times – yes! More is wrought by prayer than this world dreams of!

I read the description in the link and could not be happier!!! May God continue to increase vocations to that priory, for God’s glory and the renewal of the Catholic Faith in Ireland.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Jesus, we trust in You! Mary, Mother and Model of the Church, pray for us.

Have you read In Sinu Jesu? It is locutions given to the monk who has founded this order. Highly recommended–it is on amazon. My own Adoration has increased due to this book and I’d love to see other lay people join in.

Dear Limoncello,

Thanks again. I did go to Amazon but I did not see anything indicating the author of “Sinu Jesu” was " the monk who has the founded this order" . Can you give me the reference in which you found that info. I have seen Fr. Kirby’s website (who is one of the monks at the new priory in Ireland) I think he is one of the co-founders of the new Benedictine priory.

MariaChristi,I can’t give you solid proof. But it is clear from the book In Sinu Jesu that the order was directed by Jesus to be founded by the monk (who remains anonymous), in Ireland, for the intention of praying for the renewal of the priesthood, and based on the spirituality of the otherwise obscure Mechtild de Bar. There is no other monastery of recent founding that fulfills these things that, again, are explicitly clear in the locutions given to the monk.
I’m now looking to find her writings.
By the way, the book was recommended in a piece written for the Catholic Register by Janet Smith–that’s how I looked it up. Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks for taking time to help. 🙂 I really appreciate it. I’m so concerned for Ireland since my Maternal and Paternal Grandparents were born there. My own mother and father were born in the USA but my Mom was so Irish in her ways, people thought she was born in Ireland! My faith came to me through my natural mother and through the continuing intercession of my Spiritual Mother the Virgin Mary.

I’m concerned that the USA is going in a similar direction as Ireland and only the those true to the Supernatural Faith given to us at Baptism can keep from falling, and by God’s grace help others to keep from falling.

God willing, on Feb. 20, I’m beginning the 33 Day Preparation to re- consecrate myself totally to Jesus through Mary . I learned about St. Louis De Montfort’s “True Devotion” and Consecrated myself as a teenager in high school as a member of the Junior Legion of Mary.

Still a member of the Legion of Mary as an adult now, of this Lay Apostolate, founded in Dublin by Servant of God Frank Duff in 1921. When I saw that the Monks’ new priory was north of Dublin I was happy to read that too. God is Faithful! Thanks again, for sharing good news.
