Depends. I hope to go to heaven. I.e, if i had one wish that would be it.
But, i may hope that it may be sunny tomorrow etc… Hope in that sense just means one would prefer it to an alternative, but in the end it doesnt really matter.
the theological virtue of hope is more of a combination of trust and desire. I hope to go to Heaven. I trust that God will give me the graces. It is much more than a simple wish.
The way we usually use it in conversation is sort of positive thinking about the future. I think our common usage gets in the way of understanding the theological meaning of Hope.
