Actually, Max, you’re onto something IMHO.
In the book Hostage to the Devil (about 5 real cases of diabolic possession), Fr. Malachi Martin recounts an instance where a local protestant pastor tried to exorcise/pray over someone who was possessed. He failed. The advice he gave to the person’s family can be paraphrased as “you need to call the Catholics, the Catholics know about things like this.” (which is of course what the family did).
Priests are like lawyers: Many people make fun of them…until someone needs them.
