This brings me to that New York Times headline the other day: “Conservative Religious Leaders Are Denouncing Trump Immigration Policies.”
It’s a great blog on analyzing how the media covers religious issues. I wish I found it earlier.

I think it was liberals who identify as Catholic that did that. Ignoring the teachings of Jesus while placing more importance on their liberal political ideology. Using the seamless garment nonsense as political manipulation so we ended up with eight years of anti Catholic, pro contraception, pro abortion, redefining marriage, supporter of the Planned Parenthood that you’ve seen in the undercover videos government and as a side hobby laughed at the idea of religious liberty.

In the last election Catholics did not fall for that nonsense and now we have a pro life President and administration.

Yep… I am an independent, but I think that in this case the Trump supporters are clearly in the right.

That’s the claim repeated for the last four decades over a variety of things. Abortion, gay ‘marriage’, etc. Frankly, evangelism doesn’t revolve around politics (except for some mainline denominations and dominionist fundamentalists).
And this blame the Evangelicals game is a lazy excuse for other denominations’ failures to evangelize. Ditching biblical views on marriage and abortion doesn’t help in evangelizing. In the Gospel of John, Jesus said his flock will know the voice of their shepherd. That’s one thing they should look at instead of whining about those evil Evangelicals. Or look at their failures in proper catechizing. Or their failure to preach all of the Gospel as opposed to the bits that are acceptable to those who worship political correctness. I guess it’s easier to blame things on a scapegoat instead of admitting their own failures but does sitting back and blaming others for their own problems solving anything?
And how dare one should vote for some who claimed at the time to back pro-life policies and religious freedoms over one who was against them. And no, I don’t like Trump but I sympathise with those who voted for him. The GOP failed to provide voters with a good candidate, then the Democrats should have done that but they didn’t.
If we’re honest, the optics are bad. But those who obsess with this aspect also make bad decisions.
