Hostage situation in Sydney

I am Australian and there is a hostage situation at a chocolate store (a chocolate store for goodness sake!) in Sydney which started just over an hour ago. There is an ISIS Flag is flying from the window. Apparently the Sydney Opera House is being evacuated now. This is happening as I speak. There is little we can do and the situation seems grim for the hostages knowing ISIS’ brutality but regardless we must pray for them. It’s scary but your prayers are manifestations of love.
And love conquers all.
 
I’m praying for you all! I’m also reading that the terrorists have bombs in many locations and they are wearmg suicide belts

My sis married an Aussie and works in martin place! Her office was quarantined all day. Prayers for a peaceful resolution.

Praying for all those who have been taken hostage and for their families and friends. May God protect them and may the situation be resolved without injury to anyone involved.
 
The flag is apparently not the ISIS flag, just a large black cloth with an Arabic quote from the Koran, along the lines of “The Lord our God is one”. It could be mistaken for the ISIS flag, as it is black with white script on it, but lacks the round symbol, and of course, has the scripture on it, which of course 99% of us couldn’t read.

There was a spokesman from the Lebanese community of TV this morning decrying the perpetrator as a rogue who tarnishes the Lebanese community, not a typical Muslim, so he may be Lebanese.

I didn’t hear anything about the Opera house being evacuated, as it is quite a way from Martin Place where the Lindt Cafe is, but a few of the Martin Place buildings were evacuated via back doors.

It is thought that a dozen of so people may have been held hostage, but 5 or 6 have been filmed running from the building - either released or escaped.

Very recently a plot to hold Martin Place in terror and behead a random pedestrian, was discovered and closed down, so we are very sensitive about today’s occurrences.
 
Praying for the safety of those still trapped in the store. Also praying for a peaceful end to this situation.

The Grand Mufti of Australia did put out a letter condemning the act.

They say they know who the man is, but they do not want to report his name yet.
