What this song is really a refference to is quite scary. If you look it up, they are reffering to, unfortunetly, the church of Satan. The line “You can check in, but you can never check out” says it all right there. What do you think they really mean by “spirits”? Look it up before replying to my post if you don’t believe me.

It actually goes, “You can check in any time you like but you can never leave.” That could not possibly refer to “the Church of Satan” nor to the condition of sin itself, because there is no such thing as an unforgivable sin and no such thing as an irreconcilable difference with God. You can ALWAYS leave a state of sin, even an involvement with the occult. It could theoretically refer to Hell, but that doesn’t seem to be the gist of the song; the claims from the artists that it’s about materialistic excess make a lot more sense.

I think telling a person something is “rotting their brain” is crossing the line unless you have proof it is (which you don’t, though I’m sure you’ll claim you do). Did you even watch the “trash” I posted? If not, then you and everyone else that tells me I’m wrong without watching the video (or even with watching the video) is looking quite foolish.

it is just more music to get high by, makes no sense unless you were high when you wrote it and high when you listen to it, an entire sub-genre of pop-music of the 70s

I hardly think Henley and Fry were much more than musicans trying to write songs about the life and times they (we) were living in. While many aspects of the times were less than centered on catholocism, deeming everything as being “satanic” merely because it was about the seedier side of secular life seems to me to be quite a stretch. Likewise, while I wont speculate as to weather or not someone or another may have been high when the song was written, I seriously doubt it was written merely for folks to “get high by” Looking back to the life and times and circumstances surrounding me while growing up back then, it pretty much all makes sense, and does have some of the best and most classic guitar work to have emerged from the rock and roll scene (IMHO)

You can’t argue with this video either because John Lynn of the Beatles in an interview seen in this video says he promises Christianity will “die out”, as well as some other things that prove my point. Not all rock and roll is the Devil. But some is, particularly rock from back then. You have to understand that the Devil is in some music. If you watch the video I posted on the Beatles, you would see that it is true. It’s on page 3 of this thread.

It’s not on my account, therefore I didn’t post the video. Heck, I don’t even have a youtube account. Just because I keep telling people to watch it doesn’t mean I have added a virus to it.
