I’m beginning to wonder if you would keep listening to that music even if the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, or some other band you listen to came out and admitted their songs contained evil messages. You seem to need 100% proof right in front of your face that the music you’re listening to is wrong before you accept that. That’s not how things work. I think you need to talk to a priest yourself about the music you listen to and see what he says. I’m finished arguing with someone who just doesn’t seem to get what I’m saying.
But you haven’t shown that any of these bands have songs that contain evil messages nor have they “admitted their songs contained evil messages”!!! You simply point us to a website that says it is so!!! As I said before, some people claim that Jesus wasn’t a historical person; will you accept that if I point you to a website that makes such a claim??? Let’s try to employ some critical thinking skills, ok?!?!?

Well…you know that the only music worth listening to is what you hear in a Catholic Church! :whacky:

Yes, I’ve heard from a reliable source that God only listens to Catholic Church music. Frankly, I kinda thought that he would maybe listen to George Gershwin or Irving Berlin now and then…🙂

Or even Bing Crosby or Frank Sinatra.

If God only likes what is heard in a Catholic Church, does He have a preference for chant or are Haugen and Haas, or maybe some Lifeteen stuff on his MP3 player?

I sure hope He isn’t having to endure the stuff from the choir at my old parish. It probably wouldn’t qualify as “evil” but it sure was cruel and unusual punishment.

:eek:oh no John…you just stated the dreaded Haugen and Haas names…geez louise…you should know better…😃

A correction with apologies to the OP. Somehow I got the misimpression that the frequent and unique poster SS started this discussion and wondered if he was carrying on an elaborate spoof.:o
Thanks 🙂

Right about now I’m really kicking myself for even starting this thing. Needless to say I had no idea what I was getting the trad forum into…I think next time I’ll just try google.

Not to mention the Stones recording that song ‘Sympathy for the Devil’, of course.

SS, it’s not so much the idea that songs might be evil that is the problem - it’s a possibility that I for one wouldn’t deny.

Your choice of targets seems to be, however, arbitrary and not based on any rational analysis of the music and lyrics involved. If your approach WERE rational, then you’d have to have the Stones near the top of your list, and well above the Beatles or the Eagles, for sure.

This thread has been sometimes amusing and sometimes irritating but I just had to read it in one go.
It reminds me of somebody’s forum signature (not this forum) that goes something like this:
Never argue with a fool. He will get you down to his level and then beat you with his experience.
