A young woman in an online blog/forum asked about possible cheap and safe hotel rooms.
I have been staying at a hotel when I am in town that I really love, and the manager knows me well and so far has always had a room for me!
Instead of posting the name of the hotel on the blog/forum, I sent the young woman a private message, because I was afraid if too many people read about it I might not have a room next time! (I am also not sure if the manager would want this kind of "advertisement, but maybe I am just telling ymself this to ease my conscience).
Do you think it was morally wrong not to post it with the general messages? To kind of put my “need” for a room above possible better business for the nice manager, and deny possible other people of the knowledge of that place? Was I thinking too selfishly?
My justification I guess is that I am usually coming from very far away and it is sooo good to know a place where I know I will usually get a room again, and where I know many of the tenants (who have lived there for years)!
