My little brother has not received the sacrament of the Eucharist yet so does he have to keep the hour fast before Mass?
The one hour fast is one hour before communion, not one hour before Mass although that is a good practice, for those receiving communion. My little brother has not received the sacrament of the Eucharist yet so does he have to keep the hour fast before Mass?
No, I’m pretty sure it’s an hour before MassThe one hour fast is one hour before communion, not one hour before Mass although that is a good practice, for those receiving communion.

NB the fast is only binding upon those receiving communion.Can. 919 §1. A person who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink, except for only water and medicine.
No, and neither do you, if you don’t receive the Eucharist. It’s not required to recieve at every Mass, btw.My little brother has not received the sacrament of the Eucharist yet so does he have to keep the hour fast before Mass?
And at the last supper, 12 men were ordained to the epoispicate. Are we going to do that at every Mass too?I understand the church’s rationale behind the fast…but I also always remember that the apostles were eating a meal at the time the Eucharist was instituted…not fasting.
Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day. Don’t get me wrong, I think the fast is fine. To willfully ignore the fast is a sin because the Church mandates it. I think it falls into the category of priestly celibacy, not doctrinal but steeped in tradition.Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? Waiting for Holy Communion is waiting for the Bridegroom…
