I am going back and forth about this one…

Would it be better to have my current pastor and a dear priest friend over to bless our house on the same day (at the beginning of the house warming party) or to have the pastor over to bless the house one day and the priest friend over to bless the house another day?

Which would you think is better and why?

How about you really insult them both and have a Hare Krishna bless your house in their presence??!!

You’re trying to ‘please’ the wrong Person!

I would just have my dear priest friend bless it but probably not during a house warming. I would have him over some other time.

My priest friend would come over before the house warming, just on the same day. As for my new pastor, he is also slowly becoming part of the family, hence the dilema (I know, it’s insignificant, but still). I know of people who have had their houses blessed numerous times (same house, not multiple houses) so that doesn’t seem weird to me (though I can see how others may think it’s a little “out there”). And I’m not trying to please anyone but myself and live in a blessed house.

Also, when inviting a priest to bless a house, do I make him dinner or just dessert or lunch if it’s during the day? What is and is not the procedure of the host (I am very much a homebody and hate hosting anything or anyone because I become extremely stressed about gatherings and entertaining)?

I would have them do it once, together. Or else, only have one of them do it.

Doing it twice strikes me as the same kind of thing Moses got punished for in not being allowed to enter the Promised Land. He struck the rock twice for water, when God told him to do it only once.

It was a failure of faith on Moses’ part, not believing that one tap would do it… he did two to “make sure.”

You should not have the same object blessed twice, because it expresses that you have no faith in God to do it well enough with only one. Plus, it’s insulting to the priest who went first, that you think his blessing is not enough or “didn’t take.”

Thank you for your advice. I just didn’t know if it’d be insulting to ask both priests to bless the house at the same time or to have one sitting there while the other blesses the house. I do know that I only need the house blessed once, but in all honesty, I can’t pick my “favorite” of the two priests.

Then I would invite them to bless it together, at whatever time is convenient for both. 😃
