Good essay by Erika Bachiochi at the Catholic Educators Resource Center; she pulls together a lot of research and gives a good historical overview.
In order to persuade the “personally opposed” pro-choicer we must address this 1970s feminist fallacy that abortion is necessary for women’s sexual equality and well-being. In point of fact, medical evidence, sociological data, and the lived experience of many women proves that abortion harms women physically, psychologically, relationally, and culturally.

I don’t mean to be insensitive, but if women are the victims: then who are the perpetrators? I thought the unborn were the victims. This is another self-centred argument, but maybe that is necessary to convince our self-centred culture; sad. We’re all getting victim-complexes. A woman who kills her baby should feel remorse, not self-pity!

Abortion hurts everybody: children, mothers and fathers. It damages society in general; *nobody wins. *
Anyway, good article in general, and perhaps the message therein is just the right sort of antidote for the radical feminists.

While the argument may, at its core, be self-centered, the basic premise that abortion helps women escapes the “pro-choicers.” Sometimes to reach people, you have to play at their level.

The perpetrators are those who are in it for themselves. If this wasn’t such a gold mine for some doctors it would not have been shoved at us as an equality issue.

About the article, I don’t think they mean to take anything away from the unborn but if your audience doesn’t believe in “unborn” that arguement is useless. So trying to put it into another context is a good idea.
