Instead of waiting until someone is engaged to give them sacramental instructions, why not just give every Catholic Marriage Preparation classes in high school or during RCIA classes if they are converts?
The church would be able to move the weddings right through a lot quicker, attending classes while an adult can be difficult with all of the other adult responsibilities people have.
I was watching a video on the internet earlier “Brideless Groom”, where the protagonist’s Uncle Caleb just passed and he had to get married within 48 hours of the reading of the will or forfeit his inheritance.
Of course, Shemp Howard isn’t Catholic, but he would have had no chance to receive the $500,000 legacy.
Giving the people marriage lessons in advance would prevent this kind of thing
