How and where to meet Catholic girls when I have so many struggles

Hey OP đź‘‹

It’s really important that you figure out your career before focusing your attention on finding a girl. If you feel called to fatherhood, it is important to be in a position to support a family prior to entering into a marriage and being immediately faced with the possibility of a pregnancy and all the financial responsibility that entails. As others have said, as a 24 year old male you have time to spend developing yourself in this area. I am 24 too and spent an entire year unemployed after college, and that’s living in a semi metropolitan area and with a STEM degree! So I can really sympathize with how difficult it must be for you. I applied to what seemed like hundreds of jobs (probably at least 100) and all my friends did too. It gets really discouraging and depressing but it is a numbers game. I am sure I got my job out of sheer luck and not because of any merits of my own. Getting your first full time job is hard. This is not the time to become passive or downtrodden (though it is easy to). Pray, yes, but realize that you have a lot of responsibility for your choices and that your circumstances depend in part on the decisions you make. You sound like an intelligent man who has faced a bit of a rough patch and lost confidence in himself. You will pull through this so long as you retain your hope and a positive outlook. Think of this as a trail in persistence.

Have you considered something that doesn’t require a degree and is perhaps more technical/physically demanding?

Oh, and don’t be so afraid of the “friend zone”! friendship to romantic relationship does occur and is a good path to follow.
This. My husband and I were a textbook example.

In fact I would remove the phrase “friend zone” altogether from your vocabulary. It implies a permanent state of being and only perpetuates the feelings of hopelessness. It also distorts your view of the relationship. It’s not like you’re a potential love interest until you speak up and then suddenly you’re FRIEND ZONED. No one suddenly gets friend zoned. They just finally realize how the other person has seen them all along.

I was actually going to post a thread asking for suggestions on where I can meet Catholic men! I saw this and maybe I could get a few ideas perhaps…

I’m a 21 year old convert with only a few Catholic friends and the majority of youth in my parish are married and there doesn’t seem to be many youth events where I am (in Australia)
Has anyone been to Theology on Tap? We have it here but do you actually get a chance to chat to the other people there?

It’s really hard meeting people I agree!
