How are truly Jewish people able to practice their faith without the Animal Sacrifices the Torah requires?

As a Christian, I’ve always been curious as to why the Jews no longer practice Animal Sacrifice as it is clearly required in the Torah.

I have been told, although the answer doesn’t seem to hold water, that it is because of the Romans destroyed the Temple.

I think that’s certainly not the answer a practicing Jewish person would give because Jews for thousands of years before the building of the Temple were making animal sacrifices to God in Tents.

What is the real reason there are no more animal sacrifies in the current Jewish religion?

(🤷 Could it be because the leaders of the Jewish faith recognize that the final Sacrifice, Jesus on the Cross, has already been made and that there truly is nothing more they can add? - Just my thought since I’ve never gotten a straight answer which makes sense - something I hope will change here.)

No Temple on the Mount. Islam is currently on the Temple Mount, with NO intentions of moving.

But there are some who are preparing for a third Temple. For example, the instruments used for sacrifice, the Priestly costumes, the musical instruments, design of the Temple itself, etc.

As I explained in the above, I’m not buying that answer as for thousands of years as documented in the Torah the Jewish people made their animal sacrifices in Tents through out the desert and other places in the Middle East.

I’m just curious as to the ***real ***reason. I’ve been wondering this for 22 years. I really want to know.

This was answered many times before, maybe do a search on this topic using the search feature?

To state it briefly: animal sacrifice was never the ONLY method of atoning for sin, otherwise verses like Proverbs 16:6 would be a lie.

I tried to search it, but only came up with my thread. What am I doing wrong? I searched Animal Sacrifice - pulled up my thread, Jewish Sacrifice - pulled up no threads.

Thanks

I know the issue has been beaten to death many times (lol)…I’m not really sure how to use the search feature to its fullest potential, maybe someone else can advise you?

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time this particular method of atonement was used or, perhaps I should say, preferred?

Do you mean animal sacrifice? Most likely when the 2nd Temple stood. When the 3rd Temple is built, it will be restored.

According to ancient Jewish prophecy, it was foretold that both the 1st and 2nd Temples would be destroyed (Jesus was no doubt familiar with these prophecies, for he reiterated one of them.)

The 1st Temple (our sages tell us) would be destroyed due to disobedience, and the 2nd Temple would be destroyed (as it was) due to sinat chinam (baseless hatred among the Jewish people.)

Actually - this is the “real reason”. While you are correct that in the early years of the Mosaic period sacrafices were done in tents - there was a portable tabernacle and Holy of Holies, there evvolved a tradition of sacraficing only in the Temple, once it was constructed in Jerusalem. In fact, you will find in the Old Testatement a story about disputes between Northern and Southern tribes of Israel when one group tried to build another alter outside of Jerusalem. With the destruction of the first Temple with the Babylonian captivity, sacrafice ceased. Then it began again in earnest with the building of the second Temple - this was ultimately destroyed in 70 AD and the sacraficial system ceased.

Rather than revert to sacrafice without a temple in Jerusalem, rabbinic judaism replaced sacrafice with prayer and good works. Sepharad pointed to one verse ofted cited to scripturally support this move and there are a few others - although many (within and without the Jewish community, but in fairness, mostly from without) contest the idea that atonement is scripturally possible under the Hebrew scriptures without sacrafice and there are some hassidic communities today that still sacrafice chickens on the day of atonement for this reason.

Today - conventional/majority Jewish teaching is that atonement comes through faith, prayer, repentance and good words, rather than from faith, repentance and sacrafice.

:rotfl:

If the temple is prophesied to be build for Jesus second coming, then it will in the right time, and no Islam or anything else will stand in the way.

:blessyou: Lev23.
