I sought high and low to find salvation from God. I’ve prayed to him and have reach a grave state of self-loathing. But I haven’t been able to think in my heart that He has forgiven me. Instead there is only self-hate and fear of punishment; Sort like in Ezekiel 24, when speaking of the bloody city, “You will not be cleansed until I have laid my fury upon you!” (Until He does this I think I’m just going to have to continue beating myself with regret.)

I don’t think I could tell you the best way - that I would let others answer, but I have one question for you: how difficult is it for you to forgive someone when he/she offends you?

If you find it difficult, then perhaps it is your pride that you couldn’t think Jesus could do better than you. Now, I don’t imply that you are aware of it, but that might help you somehow on this subject.

Your sins are not bigger than God’s mercy. If you’re Catholic, go to confession. You can trust the absolution that you recieve through the priest. God knows we’re weak and need to hear that we’re forgiven.

ah, also don’t forget to talk to His Mother - she knows what to tell you.

Excellent advice in this thread already. 👍

I’d also suggest reading the Diary of St. Faustina and learning of the message of Divine Mercy (see my signature for info.). What hurts Jesus the most (He told St. Faustina) is when we turn away from Him, won’t accept His mercy. He wouldn’t offer it if it wasn’t good enough for to cleanse our sins. You have to trust Him. ❤️

Sometimes it’s hard to forgive oneself (I know this :o) but reading St. Faustina’s Diary has helped me a lot. 🙂

Clovis, Father Serpa gave you a very good answer. Sacramental confession is the way to go. We generally advise people in your situation to find one and only one priest to confess to, and obey him, and have faith in God’s Sacrament.
God bless.
