It’s a fact that families are getting smaller and smaller, just curious as to how big a family you came from. I’m the middle child of a family of 6; my Mom did loose two (both sisters) so we could have been 8 here on earth. I currently have 2 and a new one on the way! How about you?

Oldest of six living kids, two in heaven. Growing up in the 70’s in CA, we were a bit odd although I had some friends with bigger families.

I’m in the middle of 6 children…don’t have “middle child” syndrome though that I know of. Can anyone define for me what this 'Middle Child" thingy is actually all about? I frequently get the ‘poor you’ whenever the discussion of where do I stand in the line of 6 comes up.🙂

Hey, fun. I am the only vote so far in the 9 to 11 category. My mom had 7 live births and 2 miscarriages. Include my Dad and we had 11.

Well, so far I am the only one who came from 3. I always wanted lots of brothers and sisters. I was the only girl between two boys.

My mom came from a catholic family of 13, not sure why she only had 3 of us. She is no longer practicing. Hasn’t my whole life.

I just came back to the church and we are on #6!

Raised Protestant, just me and my brother. Always wished there were more!

Remember Jan Brady syndrome? “It is Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!!” A number of theories on personalities of birth order have developed over the years. Read about these ordinal positions if you are interested. In a nut shell: the oldest and youngest get all the attention – simply by being the oldest or the baby. The “middle” child or children are left on their own to get the parents attention. It makes some sense, and as the youngest of seven I know I was babied! But any theory that claims to predict personality simply on birth order has little merit. And when you have more than three kids, you get upper middle, middle middle, lower middle…and if there is wide age range between sibs you might get two kids with “oldest” traits. It is pretty interesting, but there is more than birth order to shape a child’s personality.

I come from a family of 10. 6 girls and 4 boys. My mother had two sets of twins and they were born 11 and a half months apart. I’m in the middle I have 3 older sisters and 3 younger. Just try getting in the bathroom to get ready for school in the morning.

We had 4. I always prayed that my mom would have more 😦

I love big families and hope to beat 4 by one or two … or three … or …

I have one living brother and two living sisters. I had a sister that died when I was 11 months. When answering the poll I only considered siblings not parents, so I put 4-5.

I am one of three children. However, my father is the 7th of 13 and my mother is the 1st of 7.

I am the elder of two, but I know my mom had fertility problems (there are seven years between myself and my brother, and they were trying to adopt when she got pregnant w/ my brother).

My husband, on the other hand, is #6 of 10 children.

I am the first born (I don’t say oldest anymore) LOL of 10. I have 7 sisters and 2 brothers. I once asked my Obgyn why some families have 10 kids and others only 3? You should have seen the look on his face! Of course I knew “how” but I was curious, as we come from very Catholic families, yet both my parents only had 2 siblings each. I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t going to have 10 kids! LOL. Although it was a blast growing up in our family, I still don’t know how my mother did it. (a lot of help from me) LOL. We are all 1 year apart, except for number 4 and 5. Mom had a break while Dad was in Vietnam. We are all still a very close family, thank God! My younger brother just married a girl who was an only child, now she has 8 sisters and 22 neices and nephews. And she did say she always wanted a sister. 🙂 Careful what you pray for!

I am the youngest of 4. I have one daugher.

My husband is #4 of 6. His two younger brothers both died so I guess that makes him the youngest. He and his 2 sons are definitely the favorites by far.

the second of 9 children… wish me and my wife had had the same courage, and faith in God… 👍
