I have the mentality the best way to fight for justice is speak the truth quietly and to lead by example. For example, if a behaviour is a sin, the best I could do is not commit that sin and it would have a positive influence on others around me. I never felt I was called to be a mother Theresa in the sense that my good works would never make it to the media. God would see me and reward me in private.

However, with all the thins going on in Canada ie in order to be a member in Justin Trudeau’s party, one must be pro-life and the words mother and father will be change on all legal documents to caretaker to be more inclusive, I honestly feel enough is enough and I need to start taking more action.

So, how does one go about fighting for values in a society that could create a lot of damage to someone who express a Catholic opinion?

I think what you do will depend upon your life situation and what you mean by the phrase “create alot of damage”. For example, what a father might do might depend on the age of his children. It probably wouldn’t be the best course of action to get thrown into jail and become unable to provide for little ones who need him to work and provide for their needs.

But if the children are grown…the father might take a different approach with the attitude of “throw me in jail…I don’t care…I’m speaking out against this no matter what.”

Is alot of damage jail time or just ridicule? Is it fines and loss of job or just loss of friends?

It also depends on the seriousness of the issue that you decide to fight on.

Abortion kills innocent babies. Nothing is more serious than that.

Removing gender specific language…not as serious. I think some people are making fools of themselves (I giggle inside sometimes) because of the unbelievable lengths that they are going to try to ignore the natural differences between motherhood and fatherhood. And they can keep trying but they just won’t be able to pull that one off. (I don’t mean to make light of that situation, by the way,…it’s just that some of the stuff we hear these days is just so dang ridiculous.)

Also, Pope Francis just addressed this in the speech he gave to the U.N. He called it “declarationalist nominalism” which I think means…trying to change the reality of something simply by calling it by another name. It doesn’t work. For example, redefining marriage to include relationships that aren’t really marriages…doesn’t reallly make them marriages.

Let your holiness speak for you. And whatever you do don’t vote Grits.
