A priest who suffers from alcoholism and should not consume wine can apply for permission to use mustum. Mustum is grape juice that is either fresh or preserved by methods that suspend its fermentation without altering its nature (for example, freezing). If a priest is unable to obtain mustum, he may ask the Ordinary for permission to receive only the host.
