So I did read the book 1 of the Mystical City of God, wrote by Venerable Mary of Agreda, which is abridged version. And found the shocking sentence.
She gave to the poor not as if conferring a benefit upon them, but as paying a debt due in justice, saying in her heart: this my brother and master deserves what he needs and what I possess without desert. In giving alms She kissed the hands of the poor, and whenever She was alone, She kissed their feet, or, if this was impossible, She would kiss the ground over which they passed.
How can the Queen of Heaven would call a man master, and kiss their feet, even a ground? Also, according to the book, this event happen when Holy Mary was 2 years old.

WHAT.

Kissing the ground is, historically, a sign of thanks for the Earth, the people who live on it, and the abundance it gives us.

I don’t see what the issue is here.

You seem to be completely forgetting the fact that Jesus told us that leaders should serve. He, Jesus Christ, GOD INCARNATE, washed the feet of the disciples in an act of service.

You are talking about a time before She became the Mother of God.

If you remember She perpetually tried to be the most humble of any. The acts you speak of were certainly gestures of humility.

Ave Maria.

Mystical City Of God is a private revelation and you are not required to believe in it.

You might as well ask how can the Son of God wash people’s feet? 😛

There’s a school of thought that basically says, we have no possessions of our own. Everything is a gift from God, and we hold it in trust in order to bestow upon other people. Sort of like the sun shines on people, regardless of their personal merit— the sun freely bestows its light and warmth and life-giving properties upon everyone without distinction.

So, here you have Mary being grateful to God for the opportunity to serve God by serving her neighbor.
