How can i be happy in heaven knowing my beloved brother is suffering forever in hell?

NO ONE can say , no matter how much they think they know - about the salvation of another. So once again - Asd I stated prior - the uncharitable thing here is to assume someone is in Hell definitively. No matter how much one thinks they know. Even about a Family Member. Secondly - the Person already stated that the Brother is still alive. My post was said with this knowledge. Review the Thread. Third - EVERYONE in Hell does deserve it. WHY? Because only GOD can send them there. Are you saying there are some there WHO Dont deserve to be there? And if so - how is it that any man (Who scripture forbids to judge to begin with) can claim to have greater judgement than GOD?

Now as for your time and place - the Scenario outlined in the original post didnt say anything about being at a funeral. Had it - my approach would have been obviously different. To imply otherwise is disengenuous. The subject isnt what to say at a funeral. It is - how does one reconcile the sadness one would feel having attained heaven personally while a loved one during ones life on Earth had been condemned to Hell. My answers reflected the scenario of the original topic. They are applicable to that topic. Now if you want to know what I would say at a funeral - then ask me.
Actually, the poster had not said as of your first reply whether or not he/she was asking a real or hypothetical question. The OP simply asked how they could be happy IF their beloved brother is in Hell.

You then said this:
If your brother is in Hell - he is in Hell for one reason. He made himself an enemy of GOD and a Friend of Satan.
He has no one to blame but himself.
It isnt your fault and it isnt GOD’s Fault.
Its his fault.
Also, I don’t believe anyone said that they know definitively that this person or persons is/are destined for Hell. It was a “What if?” question, which is perfectly valid and not judgmental at all. In fact, you are the only one who seems “Hell-bent” (pardon the pun) on the certitude that there are any people in Hell at all. I still have hope in God’s mercy and in the possibility for the conversion of all sinners, even at the last second.

You just contradicted yourself. First of all - the question was posed as hypothetical. Since they approached hypothetically , they were looking for the Catholic Concept which of course is the purpose of this forum. You are the only one in the entire thread interjecting emotion into the discusssion , not me and in a judgemental fashion as well. You have for all intents and purposes gone to great lengths simply to argue and to judge according to your own false perceptions. Secondly - Hell is Dogma. Do you want me to post some apologetics where Saint after Saint , Pope after Pope or Theogian after theologian has discussed the fact that there are souls sufffering in HELL? Yes we know there are souls in Hell. What we dont know is WHICH ONES. The purpose of the Discussion of Hell is so that People may avoid going there. But since the OP made the statement that IF his or her brother was in HELL (Which is a given in the hypothetical question posed and not a part I contributed. ) then etc etc etc. It has become apparent to me that all you are interested in is arguing with and rashly judging me. And since it takes two to argue - I will no longer address you in this thread. I have clarified everything I have posted and I completely reject your criticism. Not only is it unfounded - its unteneable and unsupportable and therefore useless to continue to discuss. I wish you well , my fellow Catholic , But I will not be a party to this any longer.

I reject your criticism as well. Is that all it takes? Wow. That was easy… I’m going to have to use this argument more often…

Sorry to the OP for getting off track.

I personally believe that in our final moments, we are given a chance for contrition and that 99% of people take it. I don’t think people go to Hell because of sexual sins or alcoholism or not going to church on Sundays because really, most of those are just decent people who have gotten off-track and I think that in His mercy, God probably knows that and brings them home. I think probably the only people in Hell really, really hate God for some reason and completely reject Him and any mercy He might be willing to show.

Care to point out where the Church teaches that people dont go to Hell for Sexual sins or Alcoholism? I dont know about you - but I believe that the 6th and 9th Commandment were writrten by the finger of GOD himself on the Tablets and given to Moses and carried in the Ark of the Covenant. Why would GOD go through all that trouble if it didnt mean anything? Why would st Paul say no one is Tempted beyond their strength if the Gravity of Sin is meaningless. Feel free to back up these opinions of yours with Good apologetics. I cite Pope Paul the VI in " Humanæ Vitæ " not to mention 1 Corinthians 6:14 Now God hath both raised up the Lord, and will raise us up also by his power.

15 Know you not, that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I, then, taking the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid.

16 Or know you not, that he who adheres to a harlot, is made one body? *For they shall be (saith he) two in one flesh.

17 But he who adheres to the Lord is one spirit.

18 Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth, is without the body: but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his own body.

19 Or know you not, *that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

20 *For you are bought with a great price. Glorify and bear God in your body.

I question your belief that we are not held accountable for Sins of the Flesh. Where does the Church back up your belief.

Since this post is off topic and I dont want to derail the thread from the original question - I created another post regarding “Sexual Sins” - so if anyone wants to respond to this post - please do so there - and my apologies to the OP - I dont want to take away from your subject matter.
