How can I become a Catholic?

I grew up in a southern baptist church but never baptized. My parents believed that I should make the decision on my own. I now attend a catholic church, but do not participate in communion because of this. I would like to consider becoming catholic and more so to be baptized so that I can participate fully in the church. What steps need to be taken?
