I would really like to get involved with a pro-life organization. When I look them up online, there are so many! I’m not sure which to choose or how I want to get involved. I just feel like I have to become part of it since all these babies are killed day after day and I can’t just sit here and do nothing… any suggestions?

You can check your phone book to see if there is a pro-life organization in your area. They often need volunteers to work in the office, write letters, make phone calls, etc.
You could also contact your parish and see if they have a pro-life group. The Knights of Columbus are active in the pro-life movement.

I’ve been feeling the same thing, too. One of the things we’ve got going at our parish is our Culture of Life ministry. The people there are wonderful, and they’ve done much, not only thru prayer, but through action. A couple of our parishioners are active with the Culture of Life Family Services, a local clinic that promotes life and provides services for crisis pregnancies, NFP classes, etc.

Another thing I’m thinking about doing getting involved in the prayers at abortion clinics. They happen every Wednesday at a local abortion mill between 7-9 am. It’s peaceful, and they help deter a lot of women from abortions. This city-wide ministry was successful in shutting down a clinic in the north part of our town. Now it’s the south part that needs our prayers and help.

One thing you may want to get involved in is the annual Life Chain event for this year. It’s happening this Sunday, October 7th, nationwide. You can find out if your area is holding one by going to the Life Chain site here.

Most importantly, please continue praying for the unborn and for the souls lost to abortion. The intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe can help bring awareness and truth to this terrible affliction on our society.

Hope this helps - God Bless!

Birthright is a wonderful pro-life organization that has been around for more than 30 yrs. They provide counseling and support services for pregnant women and they seem to have offices around the country. They also are ever in need of vounteers for a variety of services.

Welcome a pregnant, single mother into your home during her third trimester and help her with the baby after she comes home from hospital. We’ve done it.
This helps get a woman started and shows that there are caring people she can count on. Abortions happen when women feel abandoned.

Why not start at your local parish and see if there is a group already started there? We have one in our parish and our parish is a small rural parish.

BTW there are individual things you can do to. I have access to a copy machine at work (and approval to use it for church matters) so I went in on the weekend and printed up several THOUSAND pro-life flyers this past weekend to be passed out after mass for the next 8 weeks. PRIESTS FOR LIFE has flyers you can download in English and Spanish.

You can also organizer a peaceful prayer day outside of the local abortion clinic.

I’d start local. JMO.

You can do many things. You can sign up for an organization that does action alerts where you can e-mail organizations and businesses that support abortion to protest. You can read the pro-life news. You can volunteer at your local pro-life crisis pregnancy center. You can boycott companies that sell products that are pro-abortion or that donate to pro-abortion organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Planned Parenthood. This is just a short list of the things you can do.
