The Truth About Mary
I watched part of it, & yes it’s put together very well, & it does start out very Biblical. However, when it compares Eve being called 'Woman" & Mary being called “Woman” & implies that Mary is the ‘second Eve,’ because Jesus is the ‘second Adam,’ that’s where the flaw is. First, in Genesis, “Woman” was 'taken out of Man," while Jesus was 'taken out of Mary." Second, Scripture actually calls Jesus ‘the last Adam,’ but it doesn’t call Mary ‘the last Eve.’ Third, the Hebrew word for ‘Woman’ in the OT means ‘wife, or bride,’ while the Greek word for ‘Woman’ in the NT, can either mean ‘virgin, married, or widow.’ Although Mary was a virgin & she was married to Joseph, when Jesus calls her ‘Woman,’ both at the wedding at Cana, & when He’s on the cross, He’s not meaning this. ‘Woman’ was a term of endearment & respect, like “lady” or “ma’am.” Plus, when Jesus says, “What does this have to do with Me (or, ‘Us’)?” It literally means, ‘what do we have in common?’ And, the answer is ‘nothing.’ Then, He tells Mary, ‘my hour has not yet come.’ Jesus was very respectfully saying to His mother, that His mission on earth was that whatever He did was to glorify God, not fulfill an earthly need, which is why He then turned water into wine, so that God could be glorified. And, when He was on the cross & entrusted His mother to John, He called her ‘woman,’ which was a reference to her being a ‘widow’ (gynē - same word for ‘woman’ at Cana), since Jesus was going to die & Joseph most likely was dead. So, Jesus calling Mary, ‘woman,’ has nothing to do with her being a ‘second Eve.’
Also, I read a comment below the video that the ‘woman’ in Revelation 12 is Mary. If you compare the description of the 'Woman" in verse 1, & compare it to Genesis 37:5-10, you’ll see that the ‘Woman’ is actually Israel. It can’t refer to ‘Mary’ in Heaven, because later in Revelation 12, it says this same ‘Woman’ is being chased by the dragon (Satan) in the wilderness. So, if the ‘woman’ is Mary in Heaven, & not Israel, what is she doing later in the wilderness?
It was a nice attempt, but I’ve heard these defenses before, but with all due respect, they aren’t really good correlations. The music in the video was soothing though.
