How can I keep from committing the same sin again?

As long as I can remember, I have been struggling with the same sin over and over. It seems like every couple of weeks, I am confessing the same sin to my priest. I really want to be rid of this thing; I want to be rid of it for good! What can I do?
 
Since particular strategies depend on the nature of the sin, I recommend consulting with your confessor. Tell him of your frustration and your desire to overcome this sin and request his advice. You may also wish to ask him to recommend a spiritual director with whom you can work more closely on overcoming persistent sins and faults.
