How can I offer my pain to the Lord?

I am suffering from acute back pain. I have heard and read several instances about offering my pain to the Lord. I’d like to know more about this. What, after his passion and death on the cross, is offering my pain supposed to do? And how can my pain deepen my love for our Lord? Perhaps I lack the love and trust needed to uderstand this. I would love for the pain to leave. But if somehow this is a burden I must carry I pray for the strength to see it through. This does affect my working and my family life as I need others to do the things I used to enjoy doing - such as mowing my yard. I hope someone can help me understand.I’m really tired of hurting all the time.
