How Can I Trust God?

Hello, I’ve been struggling with giving myself up to God. I struggle a lot with intellectual arguments. For example, I think the Argument from Motion is pretty powerful, I get a gut feeling doubt that I need to find objections, refute them, and thus strengthen my original argument. Another example is about free will. I find a (seemly) satisfactory answer to the question, but then this gut feeling worry haunts me and I try to find objections, afraid this answer will be disproven. I have such a difficulty shutting down this compulsion, which I think is due to family diagnoses of OCD; I believe mine has to do with “checking”.

I don’t want to think these answers are wrong, but they ought to be correct if this is God’s True Church. How can I know this is the Fullness of the Truth? How can I let go and let God show me the truth? I can get so worried that these objections may be right. Thank you for your help.

Out of curiosity, do you think you would recognize The Fullness of Truth if you saw it?

How would you recognize it?

If you saw Partial Truth, how would you recognize that something was missing?

If you saw Truth Mixed With Untruth, how would you tell the difference between Truth and the Untruth bits?

If you have OCD then you should seek mental health help.
We trust God by simply letting go and trusting him. We can pray and ask God to help us trust him more. We can repeat all the anti-anxiety prayers like “Pray, hope, and don’t worry” and “Nada te turbe” and the Serenity Prayer.
But if you have a mental health disorder that messes with your judgment, that’s going to get in your way on this and many other issues, unless and until you can control it enough to set it aside.

Maybe you need to practice more charity and find God that way. Like the Bible says: ’ knowledge puffs up while love builds up’.
