How can Mary be the source of my life and my happiness?

I was reading about our Lady of Guadalupe and she said to Juan Diego am I not the source of your life and your happiness? As a revert after 20+ years as a protestant this seems confusing. I thought Mary always pointed to Jesus? Please help me understand.
 
Hi,

Always consider the context. Mary could only be the source of anybody’s life and happiness because it was through her that Jesus was born. She was the instrument through which Jesus, our actual life and happiness, came. Aside from this she couldn’t be anyone’s source of happiness.

What she said to Diego was really, “Am I not the mother of your Life and Happiness?” By ‘life and happiness, she meant Jesus.
