If the Scriptures of Catholics are corrupted (as if God would let his words be corrupted), how can Muslims be so sure that their Koran, which came what, only merely 600 or so years later, is uncorrupted? And how do they explain the archaeological discoveries of early Bibles and scrolls which tell us that the Bible has not been changed throughout the years? On what basis do they say that the Bible is corrupted?

Koran… inimitable? What’s that? How can Muslims vouch for that? Humans have come up with the most brilliant things (read: Hindu epics, vedas, Shakespeare, etc.). What makes them so sure the Koran is inimitable?

I admit I’m not very familiar with Muslim beliefs, but I would like to learn more. :compcoff:

to my understanding muslims also take the bible into condsideration (since they believe in abrahams God and jacobs God "the God in the bible) and teach that muhammed is God’s final and last prophet. They teach that Jesus was sent to save the jews but, muslims don’t believe that Jesus died and rose, that he was just merely a human a prophet.

Main difference is that christianity is not for blaming islam. But islam is created for blaming christianity. From their arguments they are indirectly accepting that bible is words of God and christians made some modifications in it. They fails to point out what modifications christians made?. If christians made so where is the original bible??. Making baseless arguments is not correct.

Hi Rocks,

First, congratulations on coming into the church. What I would reccommend first is know the arguements first against Islam before you study the pro. That way you won’t be as likely to be confused. I guess what I mean to say is know your faith soundly so that you can spot when someone is teaching error about it.

I would recommend two start up books for you Beginning Apologetics 6: Islam and also the book Answering Islam. I would read these first before you start studing the flip side of the coin that way you can make the most informed decsion you can. Of course these are the basic introductions and are obviously going to be slanted towards Christianity. But hey, you have to start somewhere right.

Some of the claims made against us by Islam are no worse than the allegations made by, say, Mormonism, which claims to be Christian. Islam has the Quran: Mormonism has The Book of Mormon. There are distressing similarities between Islam and Mormonism which also claims the Bible has been corrupted (doesn`t it? Correct me if wrong.).

Hilaire Belloc regarded Islam as a heresy, along with Albigensianism etc, rather than as something totally different, like Hinduism.

There is just no plausible way that the text of the Qur’an could have been corrupted or altered.

The following is an excerpt from an article:

One of the most common myths about the Qur’an, is that Usman (r.a.), the third Caliph of Islam authenticated and compiled one Qur’an, from a large set of mutually contradicting copies. The Qur’an, revered as the Word of Allah (swt) by Muslims the world over, is the same Qur’an as the one revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It was authenticated and written under his personal supervision. We will examine the roots of the myth which says that Usman (r.a.) had the Qur’an authenticated.:
  1. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself supervised and authenticated the written texts of the Qur’an
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was an Ummi who could not read and write. Therefore, after receiving each revelation, he would repeat it to his Companions. They would write down the revelation, and he would recheck by asking them to read what they had written. If there was any mistake, the Prophet would immediately point it out and have it corrected and rechecked. Similarly he would even recheck and authenticate the portions of the Qur’an memorized by the Companions. In this way, the complete Qur’an was written down under the personal supervision of the Prophet (pbuh).
  1. Order and sequence of Qur’an divinely inspired
The complete Qur’an was revealed over a period of 22½ years portion by portion, as and when it was required. The Qur’an was not compiled by the Prophet in the chronological order of revelation. The order and sequence of the Qur’an too was Divinely inspired and was instructed to the Prophet by Allah (swt) through archangel Jibraeel. Whenever a revelation was conveyed to his companions, the Prophet would also mention in which surah (chapter) and after which ayat (verse) this new revelation should fit.

Every Ramadhaan all the portions of the Qur’an that had been revealed, including the order of the verses, were revised and reconfirmed by the Prophet with archangel Jibraeel. During the last Ramadhaan, before the demise of the Prophet, the Qur’an was rechecked and reconfirmed twice.

It is therefore clearly evident that the Qur’an was compiled and authenticated by the Prophet himself during his lifetime, both in the written form as well as in the memory of several of his Companions.
  1. Qur’an copied on one common material
The complete Qur’an, along with the correct sequence of the verses, was present during the time of the Prophet (pbuh). The verses however, were written on separate pieces, scrapes of leather, thin flat stones, leaflets, palm branches, shoulder blades, etc. After the demise of the prophet, Abu Bakr (r.a.), the first caliph of Islam ordered that the Qur’an be copied from the various different materials on to a common material and place, which was in the shape of sheets. These were tied with strings so that nothing of the compilation was lost.
  1. Usman (r.a.) made copies of the Qur’an from the original manuscript
Many Companions of the Prophet used to write down the revelation of the Qur’an on their own whenever they heard it from the lips of the Prophet. However what they wrote was not personally verified by the Prophet and thus could contain mistakes and there were high possibilities of different portions of the Qur’an being missed by different Companions. This gave rise to disputes among Muslims regarding the different contents of the Qur’an during the period of the third Caliph Usman (r.a.).

Usman (r.a.) borrowed the original manuscript of the Qur’an, which was authorized by the beloved Prophet (pbuh), from Hafsha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Prophet’s wife. Usman (r.a.) ordered four Companions who were among the scribes who wrote the Qur’an when the Prophet dictated it, led by Zaid bin Thabit (r.a.) to rewrite the script in several perfect copies. These were sent by Usman (r.a.) to the main centres of Muslims.

Two such copies of the copied text of the original Qur’an authenticated by the Prophet are present to this day, one at the museum in Tashkent in erstwhile Soviet Union and the other at the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul, Turkey.

And so, there is really no doubt at all that the Qur’an that we see today is, word for word and syllable for syllable, exactly the same copy that was authenticated by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself shortly before his death.

Muhammad was a temporal lobe epileptic. The Koran is simply a document of the hallucinations he had while suffering from seizures. webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/sina41204.htm

To be honest, That argument seems daft to me. Even if he did suffer from epilepsy, that doesn’t necessarily invalidate the revelations that he may have had or prove that everything he said was the product of hallucinations…

really.

This poignant reminder from BibleGateway.com is just a tiny sampling of what I would consider to be proof of the corruption of the Bible:.

[The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.].

… And so then, which of the following Biblical verses is more likely to be true?

EITHER

He said to them, "Go into ALL the world and preach the good news to ALL creation. … (Mark 16:15)

OR

"I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel."(Matthew 15:24)

and also

"These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: 'Do NOT go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel." … (Matthew 10:5-6)

OR

… perhaps Christians are saying that there is NO contradiction between the above Biblical verses found in Mark and Matthew?

It makes absolutely no sense at all that Jesus (pbuh) would spend the entire period of his ministry preaching only to the lost sheep of Israel and then immediately after his alleged crucifixion orders his disciples to go to all nations and preach to all people.

If the divine message that he brought was intended for all of humankind, then why couldn’t he declare it in no uncertain terms right from the beginning of his mission like what Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did?

How was the danger to his life faced by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) any less than the danger that Prophet Jesus (pbuh) faced in carrying out his own mission?

The Lord protected Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from his enemies and so why shouldn’t He do the same for Prophet Jesus (pbuh)?

If I were to accept the Christian explanation that it was all part of the grand strategy of God, then I would have to conclude that Jesus (pbuh)… and by extension God Himself… intentionally lied when he said “I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel” in Matthew 15:24.

I just cannot accept that it was necessary for Jesus (pbuh), or any of the Prophets of God (peace be upon them all), to lie about their mission because this is something which clearly breaks one of the Ten Commandments not to bear false witness.

How on earth is it possible that a true Prophet of God will intentionally break any of the Commandments in order to spread the Message of the Lord?

And so, there you have it then i.e. actual proof & confirmation from the dedicated research of respected Biblical scholars that the contents of the Bible has indeed been seriously altered.

As to your question about why the Qur’an is inimitable, I suggest that you visit this website.

both are true I dont see any problem with those verses. Jesus being the messiah the promised savior spoken by the prophets had to teach to Isreal first that was his mission. Since God is not only God for the jews it was the diciples job to spread the gospel message to the gentiles. But it was the jewish rejection of the messiah that enabled the gentiles to know God.

I don’t see any contradiction either. Those three selected verses make perfect sense individually and in tandem.

I think that taking selected verses out of context in order to create fabricated contradictions is poor scholarship.

Christianity is not for judging the validity of islam. But islam is for judging the validity of christianity.

With an organised pre planned human works all those things mentioned by you can happen. Bible is written by same prophets or diciples of prophets during their same period and by appostoles about jesus at the same period of jesus. But Quran is written 600 years after the origin of christianity and wrote by a single person. It will be more authentic if more than one persons gives witness about same thing than one person gives witness about the same thing. There is no other person witnessed the revelation to prophet Mohammed only we have to belive the words of him. Any way that is matter of faith of muslims. I am not judging them.

All prophets where from non arabs. All are from Jews. Arabs does not have any importance in salvation history. Also Torah of Jews is identical with old testament of bible and not with Quran.

Muslims tells that bible is corrupted. But they fails to tell which part of bible is changed and if so where is the original one and what is the original verse. And when (date) it was corrupted. At which palce it was modified.

Those who are making such arguments should tell the world about these things also. Otherwise dont make any baseless arguments.

“He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.”
Yes, Lord,” she said, “but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”
Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.” Matt 15:24-28
First you need to understand that Israel was God’s chosen people to fulfill the Truth. Jesus was sent to to fulfill God’s plan to spread the Gospels. BUT, God’s plan wasn’t completely revealed to Israel until Jesus’ death on the cross. A good analogy would be you would not release a book to the public until the full story is written. Jesus knew that the full plan would be given to the Gentiles,He just needed to complete His work through the Jewish people to fulfill all His work/plan.This comes obvious when Jesus did just as the woman asks of Him and also, she, being a woman gives a little more insight. Matt 15:24-28 actually reveals God’s future plans in much rich detail for the Gentiles than most give credit to Jesus.

There are so many contradictions in the Koran I will list a few:
  1. It says that a Samaritan is said to have helped build the Golden Calf - Sura 20:90. It is an established historical fact that Samaria did not exist prior to the nation of Israel, this event occured at Mount Sinai but the Israelites did not even enter the promised land yet.
  2. The Koran says that Pharoah was going to crucify his magicians, crucifixion was invented by the Romans centuries later.
  3. The Koran claims the Christian Trinity is Jesus, Mary and the Father, it is in fact the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
  4. Sura 41:9-12 says Allah created the universe in 8 days, Suras 7:54, 10:3, 11:7 and 50:38 say six.
  5. Sura 22:47 says a day for Allah is like a 1000 years, Sura 70:4 says a Day for Allah is like 50,000 years.
  6. Sura 81:25 says the Koran is not the word of Satan, Sura 22:52 says some texts were.
  7. Sura 2:29 Says Allah created Earth and then Heaven while Sura 79:27-30 says Allah created Heaven and then Earth.
  8. Sura 6:115 says Allah’s word does not change, Sura 21:106 says it does.
  9. Alexander the Great was Muslim - Sura 18:89-98
  10. Sura 10:89-92 says Pharaoh repented and became Muslim but Sura 17:102-103 says he never repented and drowned.
  11. Sura 109:1-6 teaches tolerance of non-muslims Sura 9:5 says slay any non-believer wherever you find them.
Muhammad had contact with Christian heretics and plagiarized from them, in fact his narration of the infancy is almost exactly like the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas
