How can one clean a blessed object?

I have a Rosary that is sterling silver and tarnished due to age. My mother gave it to me, and it may have been my grandmother’s. It is blessed. Is it ok for me to use silver cleaner on it? I had heard that I could only clean it with milk, but that seems kind of odd. Are there any rules for this?

We clean the extreior of Chalices, Patens and Ciboriums with metal or jewlery polish.
